It's a large blade, like they were making in those days, but not yet a machete: 3.75inOk now that is almost literally a pocket machete. How big is the blade??
Thanks Todd.Fantastic Bob.
Great photo Bart.![]()
I have tried. But Dad loves his wee Victorinox Classic, and refuses to carry anything but that.
And Iβm glad he carries it ~ so many people carry nothing, and thatβs just not right!![]()
A guy can always dream. Iβll just continue
each day and enjoy your wonderful collection!
These two today, accompanied by Santa, a generous gift from a friend (from that other forum- there are really great people in the knife community!)

Hmmm. Following up Schrade Cut Co with New York Knife Coβ¦
I anticipate seeing how youβll top those tomorrow! Thanks for giving us a look, my friend.
Yesterday you mentioned the coming cold spell. According to the weather app on my iphone, next week will be cold indeed. The kind of weather that makes the ice on the pond safe enough for ice fishing.
I keep postponing buying one. It's such a utilitarian knife.
Bob
Looks like you need a wee bit more cloud dandruff before you can make pedal tracks. Good looking bike. Have you ever used it in place of your motorcycle for one (or more) of your tours?I got my bike Bike back today, at minus 7 Centigrade perfect weather for a cycle (only way I could get back was collect from the store and ride it home)
It was icy, slippy, cold and hard work as the battery ran out (they forgot to charge it).
Strangely, though I fell over, was exhausted and thought I was going to have a heart attack I enjoyed it.
The canal/river was frozen in places, unusual in England down south.
Yes,yes I know I shouldnt wheel my bike throught the supermarket to get to the Cafe at the back.
But I aint going to have this one nicked.
I had a Sausage bap,a flat white and a tasty Danish (thats a pastry by the way not a chica).

Thanks, Bob!I agree with your sentiment about carrying just one knife. It does make it interesting as to what knife will be carried on a certain day for our generation Jeff.
Your nice choices seem as though they have many pocket hours to them.
Thanks Jeff for a thoughtful response. I came over from the dark side ( modern knives ) and with responses like yours my knowledge base grows. Thanks, Bob!
As Iβve gotten older ~ I said oldER, not old~ Iβve come to appreciate minimalism. Fortunately, that has not extended to guitars or knives, although the need to acquire more has waned.
This pair indeed have lots of use. I bought the 293 new in the tube out of a Schrade display back in the β70s while still in high school. I carried it every day for decades.
And the 883 was a kind gift fromr8shell so Iβd have the Trapperβs soul mate.

I tore a finger nail walking into a steak house last night. After I ordered, I fished around in my pockets and got out my SAK Classic SD and trimmed the ragged edge off with the scissors and filed it smooth with the file blade. It is on my keyring, always !
Thank you Jeff.
My Bunny knife hasn't come and that is all I have ordered ........... except I now remember ordering a knife that had to be shipped from Switzerland and there is no telling how long that will take, so I guess I better get to lookin' down my rabbit holes.
Won't be no ice fishing for Mr. P ! I reckon I've turned into a sissy since I got old. I get cold easy now.![]()
