What do I know...really like the Colt.Had to remind myself that I'm doing my weekly knife rotations on Sunday this year instead of Monday as in the past.
I mentioned last week that for most of the categories in my rotation, I carry "favorite" knives one week and "not as favorite" knives the following week. If I did that with every category starting with the favorites, I'd have a week where I'm overwhelmed by the impressive quality of my knives, followed by a week when none of my knives really excited me. So I used a "staggered start" last week, in which I carried a top ten knife in the categories of Stockman, Work Knife, Colonial/Imperial/Schrade, and International Knife while carrying "not top ten" in the categories SAK, Stag/Horn, Case, and Locking Knife. This week, each category alternates to whatever "quality" of knife was NOT featured last week. By doing this staggered start, half my knives each week are "super-stars" and half are "good but not great".
(For the Canoe category, I'm carrying one of each every week, and I didn't identify "top tens" for Miscellaneous and Lambsfoot categories.)
My Canoes this week are a Case CV in amber jigged bone (top ten) and a Colt stag canoe (not top ten, but a fine knife):

My SAK of the Week is a red Alox old cross Pioneer, a top ten SAK IMHO:

Priorities....the Porch will always be here waiting.I'm some 30 pages behind and won't try to catch up. Had "things" going on the last week or so. Mostly demolition, lot clearing and routine medical
Today I detailed Candy ... as Bunny is my witness. Not bad for an 11yr old with 108K on the clock. Was one of the first 50 thousand off the VW Chattanooga TN line when new in 2012
2012 VW Passat (German for Trade Wind) 3.6 V6 SE. 280hp. 20 city 28 highway. The color is "Candy White" ... sounds like a porn name, Candy White
The combined age of my two vehicles (Jeep & VW) is 31yrs ... and I may never have to buy another vehicle
Candy may not be a porn star but she's a fast girl ...

Attractive display case!Carrying this one today.

Also, I thought I would show this new display case I put in my office in case anyone is looking for something similar. This came from Amazon and is surprisingly nice for the cost. I started looking at the Case branded displays and those are going for triple what I paid for this.

Everyone has to handle their approach to knives in a way that works for their own personality and circumstances. I say my schedule "relieves anxiety of deciding what to carry and makes me feel in control" while you can legitimately say "too regimented for me."That's just too regimented for me, but glad it works for you. I do get in a rut often and like having a familiar knife in my pocket, so very many of my hundreds of knives get neglected as far as attention and carry. I will give some thought as to setting some kind of rotation schedule, because I have so many knives that I want to carry but can't bring myself to change more than 1-2x a week.
So when I think about switching things up, the idea of change makes me anxious and I leave the same ones in my pocket. ...
Some fancy wood for Wednesday. View attachment 2035707View attachment 2035708
Todd and Jeff, your use of the word "fancy" for your wood covers is completely justified!!GEC did some fancy burl handled #73s back in 2007. This one is box elder burl.

Another smiling Moby Dick on the pile side !![]()
Sorry Jim ........ I retract what I said ................ GT has been threatening to call the authorities on me so I really don't see anything !![]()
I wouldn't say that organizing an "intervention" for you involving a mental health care professional is "calling the authorities" on you, Rob!Two fine lookin' knives with fine wood. I have to confess that the handsome Eye Witness is a bit creepy, those tang eyes looking at me and that really scary goblin that is looking out of the corners of his eyes and smiling, just south of the center pin. I reckon it is just my imagination. .................. please don't tell GT I said anything though.![]()

What kind of wood is on that Boker ? Fantastic color !
I think in the distant past, there may have been more single spring canoes. I kind of like the 3-spring, no krinking stockman patterns, too. This statement surprised me. I have never owned a canoe (knife or boat) but I was always under the impression that part of the point of this pattern was that it was on a single spring. But I hear rumors that there are stockmen with three springsso I suppose all sorts of things are possible.

Jeff, you should see what mathematicians have to say about "voting theory" and options like ranked preference voting.I like watching mathematical brains wrestle to accomodate non mathematical concepts like favorites and preference.
Well done.
Lately, I do not want to swap out what I’m using, so I don’t until I doUsually several days to a week. I’m coming around to appreciating the ones I have over aquiring more. If it’s worth owning, it should be worth carrying for a while without having to choose something else.
The Vet said he thought it could be repaired with surgery but that Coco was too old (13) for such surgery and all the post surgery care she would need/do. We agreed so, we'll just take it a day at a time and adjust to her needs. She's actually doing pretty good.
This may sound snarky, but I dont mean it to - this is an honest question: since you have a bunch of knives you love, why would you ever carry even one knife that doesn't really excite you? Your rotation schedule is always interesting, but I keep wondering why you don't just carry your favorites - it seems like you have a lot of variety even if you only pick ones you love, and skip the unexciting ones....If I did that with every category starting with the favorites, I'd have a week where I'm overwhelmed by the impressive quality of my knives, followed by a week when none of my knives really excited me...
