What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I just toted a single knife the past few days. Yesterday, I carried one of my Carbon bladed Opinel No. 8's. I sliced up a pepper, mushrooms, and a onion with it. It did a nice job, but, I'll have to say I prefer my Henckels kitchen knives for food work.

Today I will make it a European made threesome. 😊

Had to remind myself that I'm doing my weekly knife rotations on Sunday this year instead of Monday as in the past.
I mentioned last week that for most of the categories in my rotation, I carry "favorite" knives one week and "not as favorite" knives the following week. If I did that with every category starting with the favorites, I'd have a week where I'm overwhelmed by the impressive quality of my knives, followed by a week when none of my knives really excited me. So I used a "staggered start" last week, in which I carried a top ten knife in the categories of Stockman, Work Knife, Colonial/Imperial/Schrade, and International Knife while carrying "not top ten" in the categories SAK, Stag/Horn, Case, and Locking Knife. This week, each category alternates to whatever "quality" of knife was NOT featured last week. By doing this staggered start, half my knives each week are "super-stars" and half are "good but not great".
(For the Canoe category, I'm carrying one of each every week, and I didn't identify "top tens" for Miscellaneous and Lambsfoot categories.)

My Canoes this week are a Case CV in amber jigged bone (top ten) and a Colt stag canoe (not top ten, but a fine knife):

My SAK of the Week is a red Alox old cross Pioneer, a top ten SAK IMHO:

Phiilips? What’s the story of that one, Mitch? It looks like a nice custom version of sodbuster…
I carried these two Camillus Scouts for my Sunday cutters. :)
Boy! You were prepared to do your daily good turn.
 :D

Many thanks kind sir :)

Black beauty! :)

Handsome pairing Bob :)

Thank you Gary :)

Thanks buddy! :D :)

When I was younger, I walked very fast, and since none of my friends could maintain the same pace, I got into the habit of mostly walking and backpacking alone. I also liked to go out midweek when I could, which few of my friends' jobs allowed. Now, I walk at a much slower pace, and am happy with company, but sometimes I find my friends are tied up with work and kids

Cool old Whittler Jer :)

Many thanks David :)

What a great-looking knife Dwight, and a stunning pic

Thank you kindly my friend :)

Superb Sunday choices JJ, they pair beautifully :)

Have a good week folks :) Starting mine with my Hartshead Barlow, and an Imperial made the same year I was born

Off the top of my head, I can think if only two knives that were stamped with the year they were made ~ demolition/utility like yours, and SAK Soldiers. Are there any others?

I got both of these new when GEC's were more easily obtainable from dealers and put 'em into service immediately to earn their patinas. The 72 lock back in 2016 and the
56 Birddog in 2018. I recall dropping the 56 on the concrete basement floor the first day I had it and dinging the end cap.
Have a good start to your week folks. :)

Aging gracefully

Bob

I'm wondering if there might be a finish on the SFO copper?

I've had the two production Barlows since May and June, they both started showing some coloration by 2 months. Which is about how long I've had the SFO Barlow, and it still looks pretty clean.

Oh well, I'll see how it goes. And it'll be fun watching everyone else's knives develop. Loving the brass and copper releases. :)
I only have one knife with copper so I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems to developing a good patina. I love this little barlow!
