Being from southern Indiana , I understand what you just said , but let's put it another way .Ok ......... let me get you all straightened out on all this. it takes simple minded Kentucky people to figure all this out.
In Kentucky, if it is morning and you say "Lets go to dinner" it means let's go to lunch. If you say lets go to lunch, it means lets go to lunch or dinner.
If it's afternoon and you say "Let's go to dinner", it means let's go to supper. If you say Lets go to supper and it's afternoon, then means the same at let's go to dinner.
If you have low learning, you'll likely say "Let's go to supper". If you have a college degree, you'll absolutely say " Let's go to dinner."...................
and neither way is wrong ! Savvy ?
and what does all this have to do with pocket knives. Absolutely nothing !......................... unlessin' you are planning on taking your dinner knife to supper.
