Ref: "Actually, what makes someone use a grinder to sharpen a knife, anyway?"
I believe the answer may lie in ignorance. And remember, ignorance (lack of knowledge) can be cured by education.
Example: I used one of these, off & on, beginning at about the age of 7, down the hill at my Grandpa's house in Minnesota, . Then I began to learn learn better ways to sharpen.
Note! I continue to learn, all these years later.

I would actually like to have that grinder. It could be useful. I wouldn't use it to sharpen though.😍 I'm thinking swedges or re-profiling old blades.

 That first ones a stunner!! Stopped me in my tracks. Love everything about it just needed to let you know. Have yourself a great friday.

Very much appreciated.😊

Many thanks Mr P :) There would have been hundreds of those etching machines in Sheffield at one time. I doubt there are many left now :(

Well done Jeremy ;cool: Congratulations Paul, that's some beautiful leatherwork :)

I had never seen the electro etching done before. Your first pic left me wondering how they set the lettering. I was pretty certain not with a PC. This picture gives me a much clearer picture of how they do it.😍

How is it possible to run a grinder all up the side of a blade? Actually, what makes someone use a grinder to sharpen a knife, anyway? 🤡

I expect they are trying to sharpen the edge and it skates across the flats .... in the case of bench grinders they skate the flats against the wheel ..... with A Dremel tool they decide to use it to remove a carbon spot and it either skates or leaves a nice deep divot. It must be fairly easy to learn how to do all that, as I have seen endless instances of their magical talents. ;) 🤣 :(

Hāti and the Gator today.

Gator eying the elephant, elephant eying the gator, bunny underneath ........ keeping an eye on both of them. 🤣

Looking good Pete :)

Yay! 🍻 :)

Many thanks my friend, that's another wonderful vintage pairing, in tip-top combination  Gorgeous :)

Hope everyone has had a good week :) Winding mine up with an Old Friend, and a new one :)

Amazing horn on that one, Jack.
Man that looks good, fantastic setting for that beauty. 😎👍
Thanks, Todd👍
According to USPS tracking mine is out for delivery. I ordered it Sunday night, and Monday morning I got a USPS notice that "a label has been created, awaiting pickup." Since then, I've gotten a total of 16 more notices from USPS that it'll be delivered Friday.........so far. A couple months ago with the Bunny Knife, I got a label created notice, then nothing else until it showed up in my mailbox.
Thats awesome, just in time for the weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing it.👍
This is starting to become a weekly occurance lately but I need to share with the porch a generous act from another great member.

First the knife. I am totin a BF swayback gifted to me by sbh06 sbh06 . An awesome example of one of the great annual knives commisioned for the porch.

In addition to the knife. Jeremy also gifted me this beautiful handmade wallet and matching slip. For reference the symbol is the military map symbol for 81mm mortar which I was blessed to be in my time in the service. Everytime I look at these two I will remember your kind gesture and reflect a little on the great memories I had with my brothers in the Army. Thank you. This gift goes far beyond just a wallet and slip.

For the slip I have dedicated it to be used with this awesome recovered and EO modded 85. The end of the knife ressembles the tip of a mortar round and it has a wonderful bomb shield. Perfect match for this slip. I was told that the knife was recovered in culpepper jigged bone. If anyone could elaborate on what that is I would greatly appreciate it.

Jeremy has been a great friend and a great guy. I truly appreciate it. I am looking forward to our continued friendship.

I apologize for the long winded post but things like this must be recognized.

A very nice gesture and very nice craftsmanship.
Still running it through its paces, surprisingly useful, still looks a little odd.
