What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Such a great knife Greg. Excellent photo as well!
Thanks, Jon. I carried it again today. My plan for tomorrow is to carry to carry another 29 pattern, this one in acrylic covers. Shaking it up.:)

I know what you are saying, concerning cutting osage orange. I once cut up a bunch of it for knife handles and sent a lot of it to Mark. I wore out two saw blades on it.
More burned and smoked than cut. 🤣
It's not very kind to chainsaw blades either, Rob. :)

A pair of early John Primble I.S.W. (1890-1940) crown jacks for Thursday. Feels like Royalty in your pocket. 😊

Always blown away by your fine collection of vintage knives. It makes deciding whether to click the Wow or Love button a tough choice. I think I'll just flip a coin from here on out.
;):)
Great photo Greg, that's a good-looking old draw-knife there with your Whittler
Thanks, Jack. :) I love my drawknife but its a more recent one, purchased maybe 7-10 years ago, Two Cherry brand.

Carrying the GEC 29 osage stockyard whittler again today. Not as pleasant weather wise as yesterday but not so brutal that I couldn't snap an outside pic.29 stockyard & bow - 1.jpeg

Good evening porch peeps. The newest blade arrived last night and as of right now it’s just perfect. After carrying the B&S and the RR Barlow for a bit it made me want something the same size as the GEC 35 (slightly larger than the RR) but slimmer - witha nice spear blade. Knowing a single blade 35 is unlikely, I settled on the Boker. My first Boker and I love the quality and FF is superb. The burlap micarta is a great look with the copper and I can’t wait for some patina!

This 39 has really grown on me after carrying it today. The camel bone and oval shield are very classy. Nothing wrong with pink covers. It's just old/faded red.

Very nice.

Today is the anniversary of Texas’ Declaration of Independence, March 2, 1836, and ensuing war to break free from Mexico. General Santa Anna became the military dictator of Mexico, suspending its constitution and elected body of representatives. The pattern is one repeated over and over through history, when a few who “know what is best” abolish freedoms of the citizens “for their own good.” Several Mexican states rebelled, with Texas sucessfully breaking away. It was its own country for ten years, until it joined the United States. For those interested in history, look up the Zacatecas Rebellion for the beginning of the fight.

Spanish and French explorers were in what is now Texas in the 1500’s, long before the English Pilgrims hit the shores in the northeast.

Texas has been part of Spain, France, and Mexico at various times before joining the United States, but it was never part of Great Britain.

This flag is one of my most prized personal possessions, a flag flown over the Alamo on March 2, 2021, Texas Independence Day in my honor. The big Bowie knife by Randall is out today in remembrance of the fight of Jim Bowie and his colleagues that fought against the dictatorial powers of Gen. Santa Anna. Rest in peace warriors and may we remember your painful lessons of history to avoid repeating them.
