What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I think I might have dragged this in from another thread, but those are striking pics Harvey :)
Great pictures buddy !
Thank you Steve :)
Thank you Mr. Jack and that is a fine pic with the 🐑 .
Happy double lambs foot day to you, as well.😊
Many thanks Mr P :D :)
Crusty but not rusty Robeson's for Sunday. The slim bare-head jack is a fine size for the watch pocket, at 3.25" closed. Clackers. 😊

Very cool couple of knives there my friend :)
Swapping out last week's bunch of knives for a different bunch this last week of March.
For the sixth straight week (and the last one), my Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a mini canoe, this time an amber bone Rough Ryder.
Here's a photo from when the knife was almost new, late in 2020:

Just for fun, here's a 2023 photo of the same knife. Note that the shield has disappeared, I don't know where; looks like a tiny Chevy emblem might fit in there. Strangely, the bolsters appear to be "turning brass". I've had Rough Riders since 2014, and their nickel silver bolsters often turn yellowish, but can easily be restored by polishing with a sunshine cloth (or even just buffing on a pant leg). But this is the only knife I have that has bolster discoloration that looks brassy like this. I actually like the look and wish I knew what caused it; I'd be interested in doing whatever makes that happen to a few knives to get uniformly "brass" bolsters! (Thanks to Bob Rufus1949 Rufus1949 for the Sacagawea dollar.)

Lambsfoot of the Week is an A. Wright & Son senator pattern in stag that I won in a GAW from a BF member from Manchester, England. I call the knife Man Jack.

Have fun at the show Greg and monitor those other rogue members your meeting up with ;) 😁

Hey ,,,, we resemble those remarks Paul . Or at least some of the guys do .

Harry

🤣🤣 Bunch of questionable characters, that’s for sure. 😉🤣

This one is in the pocket today.

Beautiful old bone on that knife!

Went to the Badger Blade Show today and met up with Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund , btb01 btb01 , Signalprick Signalprick , Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 , @sunknife , @bigfish64 , and another good friend and had a Great Time . Nothing like spending some time with Like Minded Friends with the same bad habits , vices , and addictions . It also helps a fella of my age to be around a bunch of young fellers too . One of my yearly high times .Of course we can all quit anytime . ...... maybe.
I carried this small fixed blade Lon Humphrey today but NOT the 2019 BF knife .

I will try to get a photo tomorrow of the other knives that I took along for the Show & Tell CF & CE .

Harry

It was great to see you again, Harry, and to sit and talk knives for a while. You brought some good looking examples with you, thanks for sharing!

Totin a new to me gift from @sunknife 😃
He knew I love Schrades, and now I’m all set for St. Paddy’s Day 2024. Thanks a bunch, Greg!

Like Harry said, the knife show was great, and seeing each other even greater.

That’s a cool green Schrade, Jeff. It was definitely a good day! 🙂

I did hand my phone to a nice lady so she could take a group photo of us porchsters, But I won’t post it on a public forum, at least until the Statute Of Limitations has run out.

🤣🤣

As for the knives? Even though there were literally thousands and thousands for sale, it’s equally, if not more fun to get to handle the knives our friends brought to pass around.
At one point, I found Harry leaning over a display in which he’d spied three old Farmer’s Jacks, which turned out to be Schrade Cut Co. Unfortunately, they were not priced to $ell!
I did not get past the first booth without buying my limit of one. A Schrade made Craftsman version of a belt knife I’ve always wanted, the 165 Woodsman.View attachment 2129239

That was about the first knife you picked up when we walked in the place, wasn’t it Jeff? I think that guy at that first table got a little business from most of us. I bought a little stag-handled KA-BAR jack from him, and I know Todd and Paul both picked up one or more knives from his table.

I’m going to try today to get some individual pics of the knives I ended up with.

I've pocketed this jigged bone Catt for today, one of the two old sleeveboard whittlers I acquired at yesterdays blade show. I was on visual overload looking at the thousands of knives on display there, WOW! Best part was meeting a great bunch of new friends from this here porch. Harry, Jeff, Barrett, Neal, Jason, Todd and Paul. I really enjoyed hanging out and getting to know each of you personally. Breakfast, knife talk and viewing along with some good natured humor made my day, thanks fellas.:)

It was great to meet you, Greg! I love the grooves in that jigged bone. Nice find!

The amount of old knives can’t be overwhelming, can’t it? By the time we left yesterday, I’d probably browsed most of those table at least 8 times, and I was still finding stuff I hadn’t seen yet! 🤣

The single blade spay has to be my favorite find at the show. I was lucky to get some nice ones but this thing just calls to me. Got my beloved damascus lamb ridin with it today.

Paul, that little spey really is a cool old knife. Nice full blade on it, nice bolsters, great shield!

After a busy couple days at the Badger show (and a fair amount of driving), I’m just taking it easy this morning, and I’m not really carrying anything yet today. I had Merle with me most of the weekend, along with a few others in my pockets, and several others in my backpack. Probably the most knives I’ve ever “toted” at once! 🤣

Some posts I quoted about a week ago, and I haven't commented on them yet. My life is just too "rich and full"! o_O 🤓

Uncle Henry 897 Premium Stockman.

View attachment 2121464
You've been posting some knives I really admire, Frank!:thumbsup::cool:
I think that Uncle Henry is my favorite model of medium stockman. The slender clip, low-riding sheepsfoot, almost-sunk joints, and round bolsters give it such a smooth profile when closed, and I like Staglon almost as much as stag. I think the 897 stockman was a pattern that other companies emulated - Rough Ryder has medium stockman knives that look to be almost identical, but with different covers.

...
You're lucky you weren't in Yorkshire mate! 🤣 ;)

That's some bad luck Gary :( I'll leave you this one in my will ;)

Jack, I say that to myself almost every morning!😁
The state of my 2017 Guardians knife is less bad luck than my own carelessness/stupidity.
But thanks for your generosity regarding that glowing horn and your last will and testament. 😲🤓

Bombs Away! 😲;)
That Buck Ridgeway is a very handsome knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
But I looked it up online, and it apparently was made only for the European market (and may be discontinued now).

Just cleaned these new arrivals and will pocket them today.View attachment 2121851
Congrats on the new Robeson/Kutmaster pair, Bob!:cool::thumbsup: That muskrat looks like a lean, mean, skinning machine!

Breathtaking bone/jigging on your Barlow, Dwight!:cool::thumbsup:

Two days in a row with this Moore Maker.

Thanks Gary. It’s with me almost constantly.

Thanks for show doing the Merle Pass Around Barrett and it was great to get to see and handle Merle in person . Good to see you again and that you made it back home safely . I have to chuckle now when I see pictures of the Snow in Wisconsin and remember when Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 asked " When does Winter and Snow ends in Wisconsin ." Now I am starting to get flashbacks of the very fine knives going around the table at the Cracker Barrel . Especially the ones coming from your Left where Signalprick Signalprick was sitting . He makes a very nice sharp edged cutting device .

Harry

Woke up this morning and no snow had fallen overnight with not much left over snow on the ground. We had a "Honey Baked Ham" and potato salad for dinner last night and I'll probably have a ham sandwich watching NASCAR. I just put an A. Wright single blade Bunny Knife in my pocket. ??????? for breakfast.

I needed a small screwdriver late last night, and since the little Cadet was within reach and handled the job in style, it also earned a spot in my pocket today … as you can see, my selection process is very scientific.
🙄
Totin’ is one thing, but Usin’ is golden.
Filling my car yesterday, a guy walked over and asked “Excuse me, sir. Would you happen to have a knife?” He’d bought a charging cable, and needed something to cut a ziptie. The sheepfoot on my new Stockman did the job, and it made my day ~ it’s the little things🤓

First, I’m glad you and Neal made it home safely. You did remember to bring him home, right?

You’re correct. I picked it up, verified it’s condition, and went on to coonfinger a bunch of his other knives, before I thought I’d better grab it while I could.
That guy’s name is Mike, and I believe he’s gotten some of my money three years in a row. He told me he had to wait for another dealer to pass on before he could snag that booth right inside the door.

I’m glad you brought Merle! Cool knife with Porch Provenance.
Nice reading that folks had a good time together at the Badger Knife Show. Re-listened to the Catch Bit Harness Jack Episode this morning.

HJ1 and Shuffler today.

Harry passed around his Harness Jack, and I followed his advice on watching out for that needle! Snappy.
