What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

SAK of the Week is a Victorinox, but not really a SAK IMHO. But it's one of the very few fixed blades I have, and is a joy to use.

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week happens to be a "carry-over" from last week. This horn Joker served as my international knife last week. (My rotation schedule is springing all sorts of surprises on me through the first 16 weeks so far!) The knife under discussion is the top one in the photo below; just ignore the other horn Joker my daughter got for me once upon a time.

I wonder if I can live long enough to carry this often enough to make it as black as the one I bought Saturday.

Hope so Jer!
That sounds exactly what I go thru with my doctor and pharmacy. One blames the other ! 🤬
It's the same every time I need a prescription  I can guarantee that when I go to pick it up tomorrow, it won't be ready 🤬 Sorry to hear it's such a universal experience Mr P :(
Forecast is sunny with a high of 70F today! I'll take it!

Striking pair Gary :) Enjoy the sunshine buddy :)
Keen Kutter Barlow for Tuesday. This Barlow was listed in the 1899 Simmons Hardware catalog. 😊
I won't be totin' that long handled axe very far. I think the axe might be an old reproduction, though it is pretty tough. I peened pretty hard on it with a hammer and later accidentally dropped it on my basement steps and it tumbled down six concrete steps. I jumped to the side to avoid a painful collision with my shin. Took a few small chunks of concrete out .... no damage to the head. It does have the welded in forged steel edge .... which keeps me wondering a little.

That's a lovely old axe my friend, makes for a great pic with that beautiful Barlow :) Maybe we need a Traditional Knives & Axes thread! 🤣
I like how the doc’s office will blame the pharmacy, and the pharmacy will blame the doc’s office. 😏
I've changed docs once, and pharmacist several times, and it's made no difference Jeff :(
An Albers day for me today...

Stunning
Rob, your Keen Kutter barlow is FABULOUS! The swedging, the jigging, the bolsters, just everything. Your photo inspired me to carry an oldie of mine.

Always a treat Jeff

Your Erickson has some nice lines.👍
Thanks! This is what Ken had to say about it, when he made it. I'm the second owner of this one.

Here is one that I made up for a customer. A scaled down swayback to 3 1/8 closed length. Have one more pattern to add then that will be it for a while I think!

I think some larger patterns do not scale down very well but over all I was real happy with how this swayback turned out. Any comments good or bad , more than welcome.

3 1/8 closed
410 milled frame/bolsters
ATS-34 blade and spring.
A little finer finish on the bolsters than I normally do 800 grit
half stop
antique ivory Micarta
federal shield

Thanks for looking!

Another foggy start to the day here in the City by the Bay. First pic was taken at 7AM and the next at 9AM. By noon it will either be sunny and clear or socked in with fog again here at my humble abode 🤷. In the vest pocket today is the usual lamb and with a nod to trapper Tuesday Mr. Case. 😀

Thank you for that info Gary.

Yes it is a new acquisition Jeff. I really have to stop picking up these " stray dogs". My fingers are getting blistered from all the rubbing.

You might lose that money makin' golf swing ..... it you ain't careful ! 🏌️‍♂️🦇:p😩

Thank you Jeff ....... butter and molasses ...mmmm. ;)☺️

Mr.P, what floor of the museum do I see those beauties on?👍

I keep everything out back in the shed ....... for good air circulation. ;)😇

Thank you Mr. Jack ...... that thread idea doesn't sound half bad. I have another Keen Kutter Hatchett on the way, very similar to the one you directed me to, owned by Barrett.
I reckon you could say I copy catted him. :p

I always believed the doctor-pharmacy situation was limited to me ...... or at least the U.S.A. Hmmm ........ maybe they learned that from England too. 🤣

The two knives I have ever had, sold, missed, and bought again 😂.

Seller’s remorse. What makes it worse is paying a lot more the second time.
I’ve done that with guitar effects pedals.
There’s one that I wish I’d kept,.. oh well.
Then there are others that I’ve bought two or even three times before finally figuring out they weren’t for me. 🤡
These two for the day. Time to patina the patina on the ancient? waynorth waynorth said use it so that is exactly what I am doing. Have a great day everyone.
