What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Step one of getting rid of the front lawn so we can plant two rows of grapes is getting rid of the sidewalk.

That looks like sore joints and muscles
Thank you!

I mostly agree with this, except I love flowers, too. Once the sidewalk and lawn are out, and fence and trellises are built, we will plant a lot of flowers to act as soil prep this year, with vines actually going into the ground probably in February.

We had thought about grapes for the backyard, but they're highly toxic to dogs, and our dogs would definitely be trying to steal them.

I agree with Amir - RickHuf please share pics!
Learned something. Was not aware grapes were toxic to dogs.
It is Schradurday at my house. Even though any day is a good day to carry a Schrade.View attachment 2153034

Looks like the start of fun. I know your garden brings you peace and relaxation.

Busy Saturday here! Attended my 6 yr old grandson's pine wood derby race. He won 3rd prize. Very cool!
Headed out to spend a few hours on 9 mile creek for a little trout fishing. Probably going to cast a few lures and see what happens. Gotta take advantage of the beautiful day, sunny and 83F high. Supposed to drop into the 50s and 60s, with rain, for a week.
Along for the adventure.

Heat the beans evenly for approximately 15 minutes until the crack, then cool off as quickly as you can. You can use a cast iron skillet, a popcorn popper or purchase a coffee roaster.
I found that when they crack it is just a little too late, it's going to taste burnt, at least when I try to do it.

Do you ever use a popcorn air popper? That might be my mistake....

Got these two Waynorth beauties today. Have a great day everyone.

You get a pay rise with that new job buddy?! :D ;)
If I stand here long enough, this dirt will magically hop out of my truck. Wait…I have 4 kids for a reason…

Beans will crack twice. When you hear the first crack, that's when beans are beginning light roast. If you continue, the beans will crack again, but the sound is more subtle.

I prefer a light to medium roast. I get very good results by lowering the heat right before first crack then shutting down heat completely when I hear first crack start. I use a Behmor 1600 coffee roaster. I've never used a popcorn popper.

Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay. Looks like the fog may roll in early today 🤷. Just returned from my weekly pilgrimage to the grocery store. Took along the usual lamb and one of my older knives. I’ve had the Opinel since 1979 when it accompanied me on a backpacking trip to the Bridger-Teton Wilderness Area. It was in my pocket while I was sitting atop the Continental Divide. 😀
