What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One of my favorite vintage knives, solid in every aspect, has had some work done but still a fantastic old KA-BAR, paired today with a knife I can't shake and have no intentions to, EVER, the Albers Lambfoot ;) :)

That looks like a good read. I'll have to get a copy off Amazon. For a brief stretch of my Navy Career I was in the "Tin Can Navy".

I think you'll enjoy the read, "finest hour", indeed. :)

Since I've been more familiar with Army and Air Force history (Dad was career Army, I'm retired AF), I've found myself reading more books covering Navy history the last 6 years or so. Blind Man's Bluff is up next, then I'll be starting The Pacific War Trilogy by Ian Toll (already finished Six Frigates).

Colored me interested

But currently my current area of interest seems to victorian era geopolitics... up thru the conclusion of the civil war

Edit. Perhaps it's more ..specific to say the post Napoleonic thru the conclusion of WW1 era)

Currently reading the decline and fall of the ottoman empire.. because, well it was hugely important throughout its history
And at least over here in the us ...not nearly enough is known about it so to me it's extremely interesting (albeit the book is rather on the dry side)

Also to keep this post topical
No pics but i got my victorinox recruit in my pocket
today

another example of a really interesting but underrated item 😁

Good morning everyone....View attachment 2168826
Paul/Jakeyway31 strikes again.
He said someone wanted to trade for his Albers lamb, he thought and said no. I agreed with his action. Next thing I know, we are discussing a trade. The lamb came up and I said no. I sent 2 knives that can't be shown and he sent the one knife I wanted and shipped the lamb too!
I have a torn heart over this, but will respect his actions.
Both knives have to be seen in person to be appreciated.
( he did get an Albers in another deal😃).
Hope this was not too convoluted.
Thanks Paul.
I was happy as hell to do it, Bob. I can't think of anyone more deserving. Thank you for everything my friend.

+1 on being interesting. I love history, especially mil history, and I don't think we had enough even back in the '60s and '70s. I spent time reading about the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Ottomans, etc... decades ago. Started reading more modern history (1700's to current) about 15 - 20 years ago. Some of it can be dry depending on what you're interested in. I know people who love reading the intricacies of politics and diplomacy, where for me after a short time reading about it I start hearing Charlie Brown's teacher in my head as I read...

Recruit is a simple yet still solid useful pocket knife. 👍

Pic thread - I forget about the bottom drawer of my knife storage sometimes. Pulled things out for wipe-down. Not carried on me today, but out and available today, just like my Bokers. The 112 is a slightly smaller brick than the 110, don't carry it as much due to the thickness and weight. I am glad I snagged one while the drop point was available. Not sure why I don't use the 113 and 192 more, I guess out of sight out of mind comes into play. The 192 fits my hand wonderfully, and it's a nice size.

OldHercDude OldHercDude - You might enjoy a Buck 500 Duke. The same size as a Buck 112 and has a drop point blade. It has been shaved/reduced over it's entire frame and is pocket friendly in a pair of jeans or work pants.
