What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One day before Friday carry

These are out of production, but you can still find them in fishing gear shops in smaller towns around Denmark, but you have to ask for them, and they will get out a small box from under the desk for you with the last of them they have.

It’s a Loewenmesser 1040 in carbon steel, very thin behind the edge and sharper than the devils tongue. It’s was the smallest of 3 sizes, the other two sizes are still in production.

That is a great little pocket carry.

Thank you, GT. I've seen Caddyshack I-don't-know-how-many times, "which is nice".

I like this HJ a lot, there is a crack near the shield, I'm not too motivated to do anything about it.

Tears in your eyes, I guess. 🤓

A Shapleigh to keep my Barlow company.View attachment 2186500
Notable pair of knives, Bob, and a colorful photo!:thumbsup::cool:

Carrying a Buck 501 Squire with Birchwood covers today. Coco is doing better. My swallow is 90% back. Sausage and waffles for breakfast. Bunny 525 threw a hissy-fit because I benched him so I've slipped him in my spare pocket.

That Buck is a good-looking lockback, ED! Glad you and Coco are doing better.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That canoe is a capable craft, Captain!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary, there's pics and a write-up in the Guardians thread :)
I read your Bulgaria reports, Jack - quite a holiday! :eek:o_O At least it looks like the weather was nice.🤓

Outstanding ovine pair, Steve! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
I admire your sunny shots; whenever I try photos in bright sun, I end up with all kinds of annoying highlights and reflections.

Cool couple of knives!:cool::cool: Jigged bone lambsfoot examples seem rather few and far between, other than the GEC jigged bone Charlie lamb.

Today was my daughter Scout’s third birthday, so I was carrying the #15 Nifebrite that I had with me the day she was born.

We went out for breakfast, then took her to a little local toy store that our girls love so she could pick out one gift for herself (sort of a birthday tradition we started on Eleanor’s last birthday). We took Scout to her first movie in a theater (The Super Mario Bros. Movie). She did great and enjoyed the movie. This was the first year we didn’t go to the zoo on Scout’s birthday, but we did go yesterday, so… 🤣

As always, here is Scout’s “birthday knife” photo recap, along with her new pic from today.

On the day she was born:

And today, her third birthday:

I always enjoy the birthday shots of your girls and their knives, Barrett!:thumbsup::cool:
(Except for the reminder of how fast time is passing - can't believe Scout is already 3 years old!)

...

Looks like Scout had a great day Barrett, great pics buddy :) I can remember my third birthday, in some detail! :D

Carrying a William Rodgers Lambsfoot today, and something different for Random Tuesday, a Romany Churi knife (or Peg Knife), made from an old Croisdale (of Leeds) table knife

Jack, I envy your memories! I remember very few episodes from my life, especially when I was quite young, and some of the events I DO remember can't possibly be true. o_O
Quite a vintage pair of knives!:thumbsup::cool:

I gave Clever-clogs a warm vinegar dip to start some patinatious protection going.

Have you tried the saw yet?

That Kutmaster linesman knife is a beauty, Rob!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
The other 2 knives also look great, but I don't know what I'd use them for. Do you think they'd work well for taking the stems out of fresh strawberries??

Thanks Gary...you are probably much better than I at free hand.
Have a great day.
Don't know, Bob; I don't have a lot of skills. I'm actually fairly good at honing a knife on the bottom of a coffee cup, but I'm less than competent with actual sharpening equipment.

Thanks, Gary! It doesn't get out much!
That's a shame, but I understand how that can happen.

Thanks, Gary!
Unless the ‘Chuck is tearing up your garden or flower beds, they’re pretty harmless. You might try dumping a bag or two of blood meal around your estate boundaries…
We have a worse problem ~ a huge coon has been gorging on my sunflower seeds and the oranges I have out for the Orioles. The last two nights I’ve tried quietly opening the sliding door enough to get a bead with the .22, but she’s eluded me so far. I hate to kill her, but when they become a problem, and start destroying things, sometimes they gotta go. I will not let Manny get in a death fight with a raccoon. He’d win, but you never know what can happen.
When I was growing up, one of our farm dogs got in a fight with a giant raccoon, and it was like you fear with Manny. The dog killed the raccoon, but it took the dog over a week to recover from her wounds.

Thanks Gary, and I agree. The Olive wood they use has nice figuring. :)
:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I just had to have that barrel, even though it's way outside my comfort zone for prices. And I'm glad I got it.

It doesn't have to be a dirty sock, by the way.
Yeah, the cost of the 4-blade tonneau doesn't fit with my knife budget very well.
Good to know that I have sock options!:cool::thumbsup:

Appealing knife from a maker I've never heard of!!:cool::cool:

Terrific triple play, Steve! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

That seems to be a grand knife, and I like the covers (looks like paisley to me 😁)!:thumbsup::cool:

Canadian wildfires cast a haze over ND so the day had that weird look all day and into this evening. The sun is a hazy tiny dot in the sky :)
Had my new 56 today and I really like it.

Thanks Steve, no lake home here so this is our summer hang out:)
Congrats on your new orange guitar knife, Paul!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Interesting photo of the sun, too. We've had strange sunsets the past couple of days due to the forest fire smoke, but certainly haven't had nearly enough haze to blot out the midday sun like that! o_O

Had these two today. Caught up on yard work and now enjoying this beautiful weather this evening. Hope everyone had a great day.

That pair must be the apple of your eye, Paul!;)

Gorgeous bone on that trio!:cool::thumbsup:

Wonderful knife with the quail on the blade and the "worm-eaten" handle, José!:cool::cool:

Umm? Is that the Beatles collection... Eight Days a Week?
😁

A Case Canoe is never boring.
Totally agree! I'd go so far to say that ANY canoe is never boring!:thumbsup::cool:

Thank you for your kind words Gary !

It can be challenging getting a good shot in the sun and it usually takes me a few tries to get a good one 👍
