What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good to hear that the edge holds up. After I bought the Kent I spent the better part of an evening combing through those threads by Codger as well as some at AAPK. The story of the Kent mark is an interesting one. The quality is quite good as you mentioned, particularly considering Woolworth's was five & dime. I plan to get my knife on the stones sometime this weekend.

Great Eastern Cutlery Tidioute #56 Dogleg Jack in Frontier Bone

-Brett

I'm going for a walk out near Haworth in North Yorkshire, where Wuthering Heights is set, so I'm just hoping I don't bump into a shrieking Kate Bush!

I've got some ear defenders if needed...!

Brian - my Fruitport has the same finish, convexed by Bark River too.

Thanks for the reply, Pete.
I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of these. I'm looking for a dedicated whittling knife and this should fit the bill.

That's a beauty, Sarah. I really prefer the #15 with a barehead, and that smooth bone is the epitome of "classic" as far as I'm concerned.

"Everybody prayin' and drinkin' that wine
I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines
Come to daddy on the inside straight,
Well I got no chance of losin' this time..."

Thanks Sam!!! I still hold the opi you gave me as my by far favorite :)

I actually carried it with me on my day off last week :)

Its amazing how beatiful raw linseed oil makes wood when you give it a month to cure.

I resorted to Danish oil for my work knife. The least abtrusive urethane I am willing to put on a knife handle. At least it stays in the wood and not on top :)

Kevin

Kevin - awesome job!

Whoa, now-- this is a customized #25, now ivory-clad. Yes?

As much as I love this knife, I wish it were larger. Any body wanna trade?

Sure! Lessee, I have a steely, a couple aggies, and a handful of plainsies. Wait, some string, too.

Would that do?

Yes Sarah, it is a custom rehandle in mammoth ivory. I'm not sure what plainsies are, but maybe if the aggies are really valuable and you throw in a 2011 BF knife.

Ah well, it was worth a try! (I don't have a 2011 BF knife, either. :p)

Beautiful job there, although every time I see filework I think "pocket lint trap." Thanks for the additional picture.

Forgetful me neglected to include today's carry knife in the previous post... :foot: ...so here it is - Cuban stockman alongside the aforementioned Kent.
