What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Before I sign off my computer for the day, I want to thank everyone for their condolences and remarks for Coco. She will be missed. Although we have "Utah" our Pie Bald Long Haired Dachshund for company there will be a void in the house for some time to come.

Utah - she's a handful

I received this beautiful gift from Yann, Corto_Malt Corto_Malt . It is a unique Laguiole. In addition to the usual clip, it has what we would call a punch. However, this tool would have a special use for a French farmer. If the stomach of one of his cows began to bloat to a degree which threatened the life of the cow, the farmer could use the tool to release the harmful gas. Just like puncturing a balloon! Thank you Yann.

Ed I’m so sorry beyond words could say for your loss and my condolences my Friend :(

We came home about 1:30 this afternoon to find Coco at the bottom of the back porch steps laying on the sidewalk. Her haunches being what they are, she could barely get up and couldn't stand for more than a few seconds. I told Cindy; "that's it, I'm calling the vet. The vet took us in right away and we had her put Coco down. No more pain or suffering. She was looking Cindy and I in our eyes as she passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I'm sure you guys/gals/youngsters won't mind if I don't include a picture of a knife in this post.

Ed she is resting now looking down and smiling knowing all the love she had all her life. I lost my Doberman over 20 years ago So I understand.I had to put him down at about only 10 years old. I stayed in the room and held him as he collapsed in my arms, I told him I would be there for him to the end when he was a puppy and I was . I haven’t been able to get another dog since and now I only have cats but little did I know they also are family Members.

I wouldn't have asked you THAT question, Tyson. I'd have asked, "But why 2 knives with CLIP point blades?? Why??" 🤓
I love a lambsfoot and a rope knife and a pruner and a spey and all kinds of blade shapes, and im grateful that i get to own and use knives with those kinds of blades. But if I can have only one, it'd be a strong clip. Single most useful all around shape for me. (Before anyone calls down a plague of locusts on me, please note I specified that this statement is "for me" at the end of the sentence. I expect other people have different needs and interests and experiences.)

I always like seeing your 2-blade '47, Bart! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Looks like your canine companion is kind of beat, but very happy! 😁

Thanks, Gary. I think he was more hot than tired. It’s tough when temperatures get up in the 90s and you’re completely covered in black hair. Always happy for sure.

Very cool, Greg. I believe that tool is called a trocar. I’ve been around a handful of bloated cattle (and sheep) through the years, but never had to resort to poking a hole in the rumen.
