What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One of these guys is going in the pocket today… Decisions decisions

I'm seeing double, and it's delightful! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Someone was very angry when sharpening this Robeson !😱View attachment 2190779
I'm not a good sharpener, but I haven't done anything like that (yet)! o_O
Your stag HHB is superb, Bob! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Celebrating Joseph’s 13th birthday exactly the way he wants to do it…spotting trains. Came down to Atlanta to watch a bunch come through this CSX/Norfolk Southern junction. Dad may or may have not jumped the fence to snag a souvenir birthday present railroad spike.

That beautiful 85 seems to be giving you superpowers: able to leap fences at a single bound, able to pluck iron spike right out of railroad ties! 🤓
Belated birthday greeting to Joseph! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
(Is CSX a "descendant" of the old C&O (Chesapeake & Ohio) line I used to see?)

Needed some stainless steel for this rainy day. Queen Hawbaker Special and a Joseph Rodgers Lamb.

That Queen "improved muskrat" is cool! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
(Is that a muskrat in the background?)

No way you were born in 1912 Gary! :eek: :D ;) :thumbsup:
Jack, I'd have agreed with you 10 years ago, but there are some recent days during which I can believe that I'm actually "eleventy-one" years old (2023 - 1912 = 111), as Bilbo Baggins stated his age during his birthday party at the beginning of The Fellowship of the Rings, and claimed he felt "thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped across too much bread".) :rolleyes:

Started with these while poking around the wilds of Omaha.View attachment 2191403
Now, I have these at the venue waiting for wedding festivities

Nice knives and photos, Jeff; I hope your trip is going well. :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Did you realize that Omaha was the birthplace of Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson? And you probably took I-80 to get there, and just west of Des Moines passed an exit for Van Meter, IA, the hometown of Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller (apparently known at one time as The Heater from Van Meter).

We came home about 1:30 this afternoon to find Coco at the bottom of the back porch steps laying on the sidewalk. Her haunches being what they are, she could barely get up and couldn't stand for more than a few seconds. I told Cindy; "that's it, I'm calling the vet. The vet took us in right away and we had her put Coco down. No more pain or suffering. She was looking Cindy and I in our eyes as she passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I'm sure you guys/gals/youngsters won't mind if I don't include a picture of a knife in this post.

Coco

You have my sympathy for having to put Coco down. :( I wish I could treat people as well as my dogs have treated me throughout my life.

Befuddled, you query, "But why two knives with the same type of blade, Tyson? Why?"
I wouldn't have asked you THAT question, Tyson. I'd have asked, "But why 2 knives with CLIP point blades?? Why??" 🤓

Case single-blade stockman along for the walk today.
Handsome knife, but that name is such an oxymoron IMHO! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Case pen knife today.

I always like seeing your 2-blade '47, Bart! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Looks like your canine companion is kind of beat, but very happy! 😁

...

I forget what red they called that, but I was surprised to find it on their specials page. I'll carry old Cherry-pits today, and that's probably enough.
Tremendous trio of Case stockman examples, Jer, all with round bolsters! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
There are still lots of patterns on the specials page with that "crimson peach seed jig bone" (but unfortunately, no sowbellies).

That red (?) stag looks fantastic against your saddle, LT! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary :) I hadn't thought of it, but yeah, a cattle knife with a screwdriver/bottle opener and a wire stripper. A Cattleman's De-Lux :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

We have feral hogs here in Missouri. The Department of Conservation (DOC) considers them a pest and invasive so they want them gone. At one point it was open season -shoot them if you see them. DOC now doesn't want anybody hunting them, apparently because the hogs get so smart nobody (i.e. DOC) can find them to eradicate them. Every other species gets hunted to the brink of extinction without controlled hunting seasons, but apparently the hogs thrive o_O
Pretty wily hogs 🐷

I personally don't know anybody that's ever seen one, although the damage done by them has been documented.
You could probably even use the can opener (and maybe wire stripper?) to do some emergency castrating if you had to! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:
Interesting feral hog story! :eek: The Humane Society website claims pigs are smarter than dogs, and smarter than 3-year-old humans.

Thanks GT, I feel the same way. I love my classic 110 but I’m really enjoying the fresh releases Buck has been doing on all of their classic knives. This one with nickel silver bolsters and S30V steel is no exception!
:cool::cool::thumbsup:

New Pouch came in the other day. Fits this pair quite well! Happy Saturday porch friends!

That pouch looks good, and it looks very useful! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Thank you good sir. I’ve slimmed down the stables well enough now that most everything matches everything else. I’m the same way with clothes- the less complexity, the less I can mess up!
I admire your wisdom! :cool::thumbsup:🤓

True, but sorry…
I simply meant boar coon, as in male.😉
Oops! o_O My vocabulary is sometimes underdeveloped; when I hear "boar", my first thought is uncastrated male pig, but I wonder how many other male animals are called "boars"? Raccoons, bears, probably others...

Yes indeed! :D :thumbsup:

LOL! :D I think I was 5 when we got our first refrigerator, and I can remember running home from school, excited to see it! :D I was telling a younger feller about it once, and he thought it was hilarious. I told him that some of our neighbours ran round to see it too! 🤣 :thumbsup:
...

Wishing everyone a peaceful and happy Sunday :) Hartshead Barlow, and another knife from Varusteleka, for me :) :thumbsup:

Prestigious pair of knives, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
If I've been traveling, I still get kind of excited by the prospect of going where I have access to a fridge! 😁

Thanks! Their amber jigged bone series is killer. I also have the sowbelly stockman it’s also a really cool knife
My first Rough Ryders were a set of 12 amber jigged bone patterns, and I've been a RR fan since they arrived. :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
My amber jigged sowbelly stockman was the first sowbelly I'd ever handled, and I've been smitten by the pattern ever since.
