Rough little town, eh? Stay on the right side of the RR tracks!no brainer for me today … I’ll probably add a small SAK as a “kicker” … headin’ into ‘town’ later, so I might even supplement with one of those soulless modern folders …

Have a rich and fullfilling Sunday, everyone.

I put a sad smiley on your post, because I regret you having to struggle with mobility. Been there ~ came home from Mayo and Rush at Thanksgiving time in 2012 in a very nice custom wheel chair. But rehab got me into a walker, then back to “normal”@Jack Black
I thought you have a hiking stick/1/4 staff?
I hope your ankle is better soon.
I hate when my ankle (one or both) competes with my knees, hips, and lower back to see which can produce the most "ow".
Oh well ... I ain't in the wheelchair yet. The Doctors told me 60 years go this year: "Steve, you'll be in a wheelchair before you're 20."
They was mistaken. I be 68 this year. I still don't own or rent one a them daRn things.
(I do have a recent prescription for a powered one, however. But ... since I can still walk the inside length of the building (100? 150? feet) I can't get that prescription filled 'cept on my dollar. I don't have that many of them things. The guv'ment will pop for it when (not "if") I cannot walk that far anymore.)
So true, my friend. I bought the 293Y new when I was in high school. It’s been carried a LOT. The two Stockmen came from a great Porchster in Austin as a gift when my son died in ‘17. They are pretty special to me.Three well loved knives !![]()
Oh man…that 67 is always great to see!
Thanks, my friend!Thank you Jeff. Liking your yeller Schrades!![]()
That is one kind of blame I’ll glady accept!I decided to follow Jeff’s lead and go with yellow. Hopefully it’ll make the sun pop out sometime today…

My brother in Yellow!
New from the Redezvous? I saw a couple of ebony coated models in the Rendezvous thead.Jigged Acrylic 59 & Ebony 35 Catle knife.![]()
Absolutely going to do this, may need a lot more than a few square feet - we eat a ton of organic garlic. Maybe next year will be less tumultuous and I can get the garden planted in the coming spring? I would love to hit you up for bean-knowledge, you seem to have so much of it. I also really dig those Ulster TL-29's, think I'll scare one up as a consolation prize for not shelling out for the GEC 53.

Had to switch for an afternoon bicycle ride, the Davison is choice for this as it disappears in the pocket.

Rainy today. Haven't carried this PL in too long, don't know why it's one of my favorites and the first handmade to order knife I ever had. Paul really nailed it and kind of opened my mind to just *how* good a custom can be. Happy Sundays gang!

Really loving your May Lamb Dan. Great choice on the covers!Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Just got back from my weekly pilgrimage to the grocery store. Along for the ride the usual lamb and SB. Enjoy your weekend folks!

Very cool combo today Bob. What’s the details on this jigged gem?Good morning all...
Hard to see stamp, an old Robeson.View attachment 2214876
Thanks man! I sanded the cocobolo ever so slightly with 500 and 1000 to expose the grain - just because I couldn’t help myself and needed to know the grain pattern. I didn’t remove all the patina though.Thank you Bob! Wayne is a true genius, and if you're lucky enough to get on his books can whup up most anything you've been dreaming of.
Thank you Jon, she is my largest carry @ 7 3/4", but the through tang keeps the weight down to 2.5oz so it doesn't drag me down riding my bicycle. Digging the patina on your 44, feeling great about moving her on to where she'll see some useI don't see it anymore, did you polish the scratch out of the bottom bolster?
Why thank you Bart, I'm enamored of the Davison (that grind!) I will surely die with that knife still in my possessionEverything will be all right when I make it - that's Dad's job, right? Meant to tell you, nice 'stash Bart - stay sharp!

G'd mawnin' Bob! Superior everything on that old Robeson man, love love it - the bone, jigging, and that full main(kiss for your knife, not you)

Thanks GT! It was a gift from a fine porchianCouple of Black Beauties, Steve!
Same to you, sir!
Glad I could provide some weekend entertainment, Bob!
Thanks for the additional photo, Todd. I can see why you prefer the mark side of your Case Barlow, but that pile side is not bad at all!
Superb sowbelly, G2!
Dandy dark wood duo, JJ!
Terrific trio, Jack!
The K'roo is so you, Bob, and the Ohta revs my motah!
Stellar black box stockman, Jon!
Thanks, Bob.
I was actually using "quotidian" in what I think was its original sense (that I think I remember from high school Latin classes), meaning simply "daily" or "every day", since those 4 knives form my literal EDC. (I think the "mundane" or "ordinary" meaning probably came later, since for most of us, our lives aren't constantly full of thrills and new experiences, so what happens every day is not very exciting, just part of the daily routine.)
IMHO, that book should always be on the best-seller list! (I just spent some time this morning trying to figure out why "sublime" and "subliminal", which seem like they'd have very similar origins, have almost opposite meanings.)
Thanks, Rachel.
I always admire your wood Esquire, although I suspect if I actually had one in hand, I'd decide it might be too small (both length and thickness) for me to carry very often.
That's a commendable 72!
Congrats to both of you!
Sorry your ankle took a turn for the worse, Jack.I hope there's not much pain and swelling, and that you'll be up and around ASAP.
Astonishing burl on your Albers!
- GT
That stockman looks like a useful lil sucker. And I’m sure it’s hard to kick the Albers out of the rotation these days!
Hi Jon,Very cool combo today Bob. What’s the details on this jigged gem?
That is, as close to perfection, as a knife can be.
Been several decades since I last saw a metal fuel can. Pairs nicely with your stockman.
Very nice knives. Old Hickory has always meant quality kitchen knives and vintage Old Timers are quality pocket knives. It's been overcast, grey and dark all day. It would be ok if we were getting any rain, 'cause we sure could use it, but my rain gauge only shows 0.25" so far
Better than nothing View attachment 2215515
Anyway I've been hanging out inside today. Had a little insomnia last night so I did my work out, then took a nap. Now I'm watching NASCAR. Used the Old Timer to open a snack and the Old Hickory to chop some pepper and onion for eggs, but didn't take a pic of it. Old Timer and Old Hickory......should have got some Old Folks sausage to go with all the "old" stuff

I agree! It was my first and probably my favorite TC Barlow so far. Mrs. Crappie somehow found a dealer and bought it for me back in ‘16.That is, as close to perfection, as a knife can be.![]()

Sweet offer, that's exactly what I was fishing forSend me a PM anytime! I’d be glad to share my mistakes with you. That’s how I learned to grow stuff
Garlic is really easy to grow. If you find a little sunny patch, cover the grass with cardboard and then woodchips or mulch ~ even leaves or grass clippings. It will kill off the grass, the worns will break down the corrugated, and you will be able to plant come this fall![]()
I love that you have this thought out Jon! You have F.C.'s "Good Knife Home" seal of approvalThanks man! I sanded the cocobolo ever so slightly with 500 and 1000 to expose the grain - just because I couldn’t help myself and needed to know the grain pattern. I didn’t remove all the patina though.
I haven’t worked on the scratch yet. I’m not sure that I will. It gives it character that I kind of like. Your combos are fresh as always sir! Looking great!
Lol actually not … I live in a fairly rural area, small farms on two sides of my little neighborhood out by a river, but civilization is creeping up on us, and so about 15 minutes or so down the road there’s a cluster of commerce, (storefronts, a couple mom & pop shops, a chain supermarket, a Walgreens, etc.) …Rough little town, eh? Stay on the right side of the RR tracks!
Yikes, hope your ankle is not too badly injured! Thanks JJ, unfortunately I didn't get to do any gardening, because I turned my ankle on the appalling pavement on my street![]()
