What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

PXL_20230615_134255061.jpg

Showed up in the mail yesterday, got a good price on it when I was ordering some new jeans from D-luth. A little rough opening and closing but I have some CLP on the pivot and it should smooth out soon. Centering, grind and fit and finish are very good. Now that having a one handed opening knife isn't the priority it used to be for me I like a thin single blade barlow or sod buster in the watch pocket.

Cheers,

I received a new knife in the mail yesterday from Mr. SteveC SteveC . He thought I’d enjoy using it in my garden. I think that will prove to be correct.🤔

The orher side tang stamp is K55K, 5C788694-7618-4A18-8703-B5B9A80C0818.jpegand I found one reference saying it’s K for Kaufmann, and 55 was the street address of their original digs. It can’t be a model #, because the same stamp appears on lots of patterns.

Something to research…
Whatever it’s history and intended use, I intend to use it as a garden/ light pruner knife. Very comfy swayback handle fitted with some kind of rosewood,, maybe cocobolo. Very stout and well put together.
Thank you, Steve!🙂
It reminds me of the Etricks that r8shell r8shell , Primble Primble , and some others have shown.

I told Steve that he’d see it in some of the Knife In The Garden photos I post.
And nothing says Garden more than a wagon of compost, a spool of wire, and some hose, right?

Finally got around to loading up our garden tractor on our trailer and will be taking it to the repair shop. Don't like hauling a trailer around town so when we drop it off, we'll most likely just come home. Maybe cruise by the Wagon Wheel Cafe and see if they've got room in their lot for the rig and grab a bite to eat. Carrying the Dynamic Duo - Bunny #525 in my pocket and Buck 055 in it's sheath on my belt.

Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Heading out to the BART to drop off my bride so she can go to a meeting downtown. Along for the ride the usual lamb and courtesy of Will Power Will Power a beautiful Puukko. 😀

Nice gift from Will Power Will Power .
There was a table full of puukos at the Badger Knife Shower T which I may have dribbled some drool.

Maybe I should try to grind one out of one of the old carbon steel files from the flea market. In my “spare” time.

But duplicating the Scandi grind is likely beyond my skills and crude belt sander.

I love this knife, but I can't bring myself to dirty it up just yet.

Where is a beautiful knife Daniel! Who is the maker? 😜
I love this knife. One of my favorites!
A Madison Barlow in cocobolo today. The stone is a new Ark I recently picked up. The lid states SOFT Ark, the base states HARD Ark. Not sure which type of Ark this is.

Is it a dual sided stone? Two stones sandwiched together - hard on one side soft on the other?

Gorgeous pair David :)
Thanks, Jack!
Not enough rain means dragging hoses around, and making my well pump work, so a rainy day was indeed fun😃

It’s going on 10:00 pm in Merry Olde England, so go to bed, and rest up for being on your feet all day tomorrow. Have a fine Market Thursday, mi amigo.
Many thanks Jeff, and I hope you get a great harvest this year my friend :)

Always great to see Arno Bernards posted . I believe that you can not buy a finer finished knife . The Wart Hog Ivory just feels so right in the hand .
Thank you for the post of some more Eye Candy .

Great to read your thoughts on those ABs Harry, I always enjoy seeing pics of them :)
Outstanding wood wearing Wednesday cutter combination, Jack; your two marvels are sporting two of my very favorite blade shapes, as well! :D:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Toting these two Lambsfoot ebony covered slicers today, the coolest is a gift from Jack Black Jack Black . :)
Many thanks JJ, you are very kind to me :) I love your pic :) Happy Double Lambsfoot Day buddy

International Knife of the Week is a stag folder that my wife gave me for Christmas 5 years ago. It was actually purchased in Spain by our daughter when she lived there for several years. Although the blade is etched with the initials of a famous cutler with a workshop in Toledo, Spain, I'm almost sure that it is a Spanish production knife, a Salamandra 10012.

No, just one single stone.
