I rotate my knives each Sunday, and if I post a pair of them each day in this thread, I can show the entire weekly dozen before Saturday arrives. If that happens, I have to think about what to post on Saturday. RecentlyModoc ED contacted me to generously offer to send me 7 Rough Rider knives that he never used. He knew that I often carry Rough Riders, so that's why he thought of me. I gratefully accepted ED's kind offer and the knives arrived a week ago. I'm still working on getting photos of all of them (my photographic skills are neither efficient nor well-developed), but today I'm going to post some of the photos I do have. And my current plan is to take a break from my rotation schedule for the last week of June to carry the knives ED sent me, a couple of knives I recently bought, and some other recent gift knives.
One of my favorite RR series is their Outdoorsman Series, or, as I usually think of it, knives with smooth tobacco bone covers. ED sent me 4 such knives; 3 of them are new-to-me patterns and 1 is a back-up for one of my favorite patterns. Here are the 3 new patterns for which I have photos.
A 4" whittler with locking main blade:

A 3 5/8" congress with 2 sheepsfoot main blades and coping and pen secondary blades:

ED also sent me a RR Coal Miner Half Hawk with black jigged bone handles. I actually have a smooth tobacco bone version of that knife, and it's a wonderful pattern. It's a 4" swayback jack with sheep/pen blade combo; it reminds me of a Case Loom Fixer or a GEC 47 (IIRC). Every time I use that pattern, I think to myself, "I'll continue to 'pledge allegiance' to a sowbelly stockman, or a canoe, or a scout knife as my choice for if I can only have one, but if I were "stuck" with the RR Half Hawk as my only knife, I'd shed few tears!"

Thanks for the knives, ED! I'll have pics of some of the others in the week ahead.
