What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks, Bob. :)
The "XYZ" canoe is mysterious. Some websites list it as "Miscellaneous" canoe instead of "XYZ", even though the tang stamp is "HCOA", and the shield explains that acronym as Handyman Club of America. Some internet searching suggests that organization used to be reputable, then became a scam, and is now out of business. You mention the coloring of the bone, and that's also kind of mysterious. The color on dealer websites is almost always listed as brown, but many reviews by buyers point out that the color is some shade of orange, and I agree.

Boffo Barlows, JJ! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Bob, you started the Independence Day fireworks early with that pair! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Mabel's a nice name. 🤓

That's one of the drawbacks of the current emphasis on "data-driven decision-making." ;)

I can see why! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I'll vote for the big spearpoint knife on top! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
Does the shield include the words "prairie schooner"?

You're welcome, Steve. :) The best tip for me was that picked raspberries always have the hole where the stem had been, but picked blackberries are "filled in" at the stem attachment.

Thanks for the interesting and informative comments, Jeff. :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Lots of companies (in several countries) make Sodbuster style knives, but I'm not clear on which models are full sized and which are "junior" sized. I've had several Sodbuster Jr. sized knives (from Case, JJ Martinez in Spain, Imperial, Schrade (5OT), Rough Rider) and I like them for a single-bladed knife. Is the size off for you, or balance, or blade-to-handle ratio?

I'm glad I could introduce some extra imagery into your enjoyment of hollyhocks! 😁

I had lots of chores, and I usually didn't mind them at all, especially when, like you, I used my imagination to make the work more fun. But picking raspberries usually involved having my shirt impaled by thorns in 6 different places, basically immobilizing me and my imagination.

Nice way to show your colors for the Fourth, Todd! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
Several folks carrying knives with those covers for the holiday.

Thanks for the amazing airshow photos, Chief! :thumbsup::thumbsup:😲

:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Having that Ace in your pocket is way better than and ace up your sleeve! :thumbsup:🤓:thumbsup:

Lovely antique stag lambsfoot, José! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. :)

Congrats, Jack; that's a stunner! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Plaudits to Bob for his grand generosity! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks kindly Gary, for the compliment and detailed explaination concerning your canoe.👌

Happy Thursday. Another nice day in Santa Cruz. Starting off the morning with some coffee. Lots of critters this morning. A turkey flew just above my head as I was putting out some seed. Eagles might be majestic but I, like Benjamin Franklin, think the national bird should have been the turkey. The wood peckers and stellar jays are about having some fun with the squirrel. I can smell a skunk nearby too. Toting a Davison today.

Beautiful knife Kurt. Do people ever mistake you for Dr.Doolittle?😃

Very strong thunder storms roared through here yesterday evening and last night with multiple lightning strikes and heavy rains. Washed out part of our back driveway that I'll have to grade today after we get back from town. I'll be carrying this Scout Trapper today. Corned beef hash and eggs up for breakfast

Woo hoo! You get to put on your bib overalls, fire up the tractor, and go push stuff around!
I’m jealous.
Jealous of your rain’too…

My son north of Denver has been getting a LOT of rain, too. Filling the reservoirs, and taking away the worry over wildfires.

Have a fun day, buddy.

Can it still be traditional if it has exposed screws, M390 and titanium? The micarta roundhead is my daily user, and I blow CLP through it every few weeks. Today was its maintenance day.

Waboom! That’s a beauty, Jack and a very nice gift, Bob. Well done!
Many thanks my friend :) :thumbsup:
No knife for me yesterday as we watched some 4th of July baseball in San Francisco. The Giants didn’t do so well but we still had a fun day at the ball park.

I have my Boker barlow with me today.

Thanks Jack and fancy indeed !

WABOOM !!!!
Thanks buddy :D :thumbsup:
This one came in the mail today, all the way from South Africa. So nice I had to make a matching slip to carry it in.

Congratulations Jeremy :cool: Nice work on the slip too :) :thumbsup:
We got in on the $5 ticket deal, so we were in the nose bleeds but they were still good seats. What we saved on seats, they more than made up for in food and beer 😁
Bargain! :cool: :thumbsup:
Still feeling patriotic. Fireworks pics taken yesterday at 2023 Libertyfest. Awesome fireworks but took over an hour to get out of the parking lot due to zero traffic control.

Thank you very much, Jack!!! It's one of my pals from the "old days" :) :thumbsup:

That's a real beauty and definitely deserves the WABOOM moniker! It's definitely firing on all cylinders, including some that usually don't exist, sweet! :cool:;):thumbsup::thumbsup:
Fantastic! :) Thank you my friend :) :thumbsup:
I went with a couple of cutters from France.

I am totin two Jacks, a Camillus Navy Jack, and a Tidiute 54.
And the Canadian Belt Knife in it’s dangler sheath was next to my coffee maker, because my wife didn’t like it where I’d left it on the kitchen table, so I stuck it on my belt, too.
She also did that with my pruner and work gloves.

Happy Thursday. Although I’d be happier if all that rain had not passed us by. It’s weird. My wife called me from a highway/interstate junction 20 miles from home to tell me she’d had to pull over because it was raining so hard. Not on my garden, though. Sigh… I guess I’ll be watering again.
I skipped a day of berry picking on Tuesday, so yesterday, I made the rounds again. Four more quarts in the freezer, but I left out enough to make a pie.View attachment 2242705
I told you the milkweed flowers were interesting. Here’s a pic ~View attachment 2242708
A neighbor also has milkweed in her flower beds, and her husband showed me the Monarch Butterfly eggs on the underside of a leaf. Couldn’t see any on mine, though.

The Hollyhocks by the mailbox are fun. View attachment 2242709I grew them from seeds I got from my first ones three years ago. These are the old-timey heirloom cottage garden variety and just have what they call “single flowers”. Maybe I should buy some seeds of the showier “double flowered” varieties.
Have a swell day, eh?
That pie looks delicious Jeff! 😋:thumbsup:

Hope everyone has had a great day, I added a little French to my pocket, alongside my new Lamb :) :thumbsup:

Thanks Jack. Your waboom (WABOOM!!!!) always tricks my eyes and I initially think it is micarta before I have to remind myself it is actually wood. Fantastic knife either way!
