That’s not the first time you’ve complimented one of my “Knives on Grandma’s Iron Plant Stand” photos, Jack! I appreciate the encouragement.
There’s too much shade to put flower pots on it and try to grow something.
About thirty years ago, I dug some Norway Maple seedlings out of the ditch at the In-Law’s Wisconsin lake house before he mowed them down. I planted them on the other side of our house by my shed and the creek ~

Maples being maples, they do their thing and sow their seeds promiscuously, and there are now four Norway Maple trees around our back deck that not only provide shade, and look nice, they make good bird feeder hanging places.

It’s nice sitting out there. I have three feeders full of sunflower seeds, two suet feeders for the woodpeckers, and an old feeder Grandad made on a post that wrens use for nesting. The place is full if birds, and me sitting thrre drinking coffee or shucking beans, or tying up garlic doesn’t bother them, so they come quite close.
I know that someday in the future, whoever lives here is going to have to remove these trees since heavy trees limbs overhanging your roof is asking for trouble. But that is something I’m not going to worry about.
To stay on topic, here’s a knife pic with that plant stand in the shady background.
