What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Some blue sky for a change which means it just might warm up a little more at my house today. My daughter and bride closed out the Dead and Company‘s final show last night and said it was awesome! The Giants are on a roll five in a row! With a nod to metal and micarta Monday the usual lamb and a Scout. Have a great week folks! 😃 For those who are Dead Heads the show ended with “Not Fade Away” seems fitting.

Is "Happy Monday" an oxymoron?
Good morning, folks.

It think it only applies to those on vacation or retired

Mr. George Washington Sears (AKA: "Nessmuk") advocated "... a sturdy pocet knife..." in his books and magazine articals.
While he never specified, double ender or single ender, it appears he felt the double enders were "sturdier" than the single enders.
He chose a Moose pattern (double ender) over the Trapper or single or two blade folding hunter/clasp knife (admittedly more of a folding belt knife than a pocket knife), or the Barlow (single enders) which were all available during at least part of the time he was active.

With that in mind, a trio of "Sturdy" pocket knives for this week's in pocket carry.
All are Rough Rider. (Sorry about that ...)
RR1455 (large) "Zombie Nick" Sleeveboard Sunfish. RR1453 "Zombie Nick" Canoe. RR1836 Hopalong Cassedy "Riders of the Silver Screen" Moose. (Pile side shown by the one on top 👍)

No change to belt carry or the neck knife.

Please have a great week.

It's gonna be another "Fry an Egg on the Sidewalk" day today. No cutting the grass, painting, playing outside with the dog or other chores like that. Just staying inside in the cool of the Swamp Cooler. This Schrade Fire & Ice Trapper will make a good companion when I go up to the mailboxes to check the mail this afternoon. Sausage and ???? for breakfast.

#72 today Tomorrow is trash day so I’m putting the can on the street tonight; thought you all might enjoy seeing it. Plus I put a new bungee cord on it to keep the lid on.😃

Crappie71 Crappie71 - A full frontal nude of your trash can would have really been great. Always, make your trash cans a prominent feature in pictures of them. Take pride in your trash!!!

I got to reading a Victorian mystery novel and stayed up to 1 a.m. last night. Then got woke up at 2 a.m. by a storm. Wind howling, rain pounding, and continuous lightning. It's been a long time since I saw lightning like that. Multiple flashes in all directions, one right after another for most of an hour. Quite the light show. We received approximately an inch and a half of much, much needed rain. I had a river running down my driveway and sheets of water were sluicing off the car and truck. It would have been better if it hadn't been so hard and fast, but still mostly good. We've been in a severe to extreme drought all summer. Did a brief walkabout and no damage here other than a 2 foot chunk of 3 inch branch on the roof. I'll have to get the ladder out and go fetch it afterwhile. Maybe tomorrow :)

Happy copper Monday!
Wait...that doesn't sound right 🤔

Until they built the big WalMart up on 54, Jacks was it.
I loved that place. Fishing tackle, guns, archery tackle, awesome mounts on the walls, live minnows, and all the news about what was hitting and where.

I would love a little piece of Osage Orange, thank you! I sent you my address!😊
Was Jack's down in the town square by the courthouse and such? I might have a fuzzy memory, but Wallyworld opened up when I was 5 or 6, it put a lot of the small local businesses under. But it was nice to not have to order everything from Sears and Schwann's anymore. I have an oft-told story about waiting in the checkout line there with my mom, and saying very loudly (so the whole store could hear) "Mommy, look! That man's picking his nose!", and pointing. Indeed, dozens of people caught him two knuckles deep 🤣 In car on the way home, instead of a talk about not picking my nose, we had one about not embarrassing strangers... A few years later the outlet mall opened up, that quickly put my mom's clothing shop out of business and we moved to KC.
Osage en route, look forward to seeing what you make of it!
Right back at ya! What a beautiful spear blade. 😎👍
Thanks Todd, we're lucky guys! Hope the fish are biting in this heat?
I guess the knife works 😁. They actually followed me to the gate because they knew I was moving them to the next field.
Or maybe, just maybe, Bart is good at his job? Cow-whisperer?
LOL! 🤣 No, they haven't introduced Cake Police just yet! :D Fine-looking Davison
Cake police are undoubtedly coming soon, it's on the agenda along with one world digital currency and austerity measures designed to keep the rich rich. Get your cake, and cut it, while you can! What kind of uniform do you think they'll wear? Some sort of all black SS style getup, complete with jackboots?

*All* of us, or mostly just ModocED?
For a rainy Monday morning. 😊 ☔💦
And a finer Monday morning it is now, thanks for sharing Mr. P, and nice to have you back from "fishing". 👋. Two veryfine Primble's you've shown lately, the flat-bolstered coffin jack might be my new favorite Mr.P carry, up there with your carpenter's whittler 👍 Hope your rain comes here next.

Sunday carry, on top of pile of cedar limbs blown down by that last much-needed storm.

Micarta Monday

HtTHrrGl.jpg

Bonus shot for Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund , can't find the quote but I remember you asking how I carry the little PL SOB? I've the crossdraw sheath Paul made for me, which is great if I don't have to bend over too much and need to draw it a lot, and the little Northwoods Pocono pocket sheath. This little whittler is 2.0 oz so lighter than most small pocketknives, it's great to pack as a fire knife and throws better sparks than any dedicated ferro striker I've used.

Eat your cake while you can people, and make it the best Monday it can be - even if that's not very good.

Sausage and ???? for breakfast.
Bacon & eggs over easy on a bed of shreaded hashbrowns and a double side order (2 biscuits sliced like an bagel) of biscuits & gravy? 😁👍

I dunno y restaurants so stingy with the eggs. They ain't very filling ... IMHO they should serve 6 or more instead of only just 1 or 2... 🤨🙄

1st rate combo there, Jeremy. I especially like the covers on that whittler. I would love to see GEC or some others use that linen micarta on some regular runs.
Thanks Greg! I agree that ‘waterfall’ micarta should be used more.

I grabbed these two today.
Stunning pair!

Superb scrimshaw work there 😲

29 today. So far it has not been a ‘Happy Monday’ but a nice knife anyways helps lift my spirits!

Jack's is on 54 north of the square and is still there:

I have heard from several people today that are having a terrible Monday. One guy said he had a bull jump through and out the roof of his cattle trailer, literally. Hopefully yours and everyone else's day gets better!

Here's a smile for ya! 😁
