The advertising knife on the left side of the pic with MOT scales.

...And about T. Erdelyi's pic, I like top right, appears to be wood handled trapper or jack.

Wouldn't you know my eyes would be drawn to it.
So how about the case knife in the lower left with the bail? A camper? for Saturday's activities?

My Cold Steel Stockman is in my pocket tonight. The grind on the main blade is significantly off center. But I still like it.

The Advertiser was a Hammer Brand om the late 60s-early 70s.

The Case Camper is an 80s Case with a jigged delrin set of scales.

Buried Treasure:eek:We need a passaround:D

What is that black scaled knife with acorn shield and minimalist bolsters please? I'd EDC that in a shot! Fantastic picture.

Some type of jigged black bone on a Camillus Equal End Medium Pen.

Hope I got 'em all.

Thanks for posting that Camillus equal end, really cheered me up in an otherwise dismal day!Must get my Yello-Jaket out...

Elliott, lookin' at my Camper above your '81 Texas Jack, based on your markin's on the tang, that would make mine an '88 'cause it only has 2 dot, did they make very many different shields in those years, were the 80s the decade that they had like 10 diffeent shields for each pattern.

One last question, when the Dot system was stopped what replaced it in the '00s?

Yep, yours would be an '88 under that system.

I'll let others who are more expert than me answer about the variety of shields. There were shield variations with delrin vs. bone, a different "S" in the word Case, the oval around the word "Case" on the shield etc., etc.

However, bear in mind that sometimes the shields that you'd expect on one version might end up on a model you hadn't expected to see it on.

They have a system of dots and x's in the 00's.

This thing:

My first sunfish/ toenail/ rope knife. This thing blew me away when it came out of the tube- it looked like a cartoon knife. It has grown on me rather quickly, I like this pattern a lot. It's a beast! And is a pleasure to open, which is a plus in my book for any GEC. The tang of the master blade is ridiculously thick- it's the thickest slipjoint blade I've ever seen by far, and maybe the thickest folder blade period. It's ground down once you get past the tang though, to allow the secondary blade to nest properly. But stout? YES! Heavy as all-get-out? YES indeed! You could club a seal with this thing! My co-worker called it a "pocket hatchet".:D

Man there are some nice looking knives in this thread.
I am still carrying around my case amber bone texas jack in cv. Its been in my pocket everyday for over a year now. Although, i do have several other traditionals that sometimes go along with it:thumbup:

I've been carrying this one today, in the last year or so I've really started to enjoy pruning and hawksbill type blades for carry.

Now, I don't hardly ever carry the wrench but it was close to hand and probably qualifies as a traditional type tool, so it also got photographed. :)

Always nice to see another "32" Elliott.
R.E thats a fine lookin knife. I don't recall ever seein another just like it.
Guessin by the shield, is it a Case Bros ?

It definitely is a good looking knife, the closest to perfect build that I've ever held in my hand- though the one older Schrade I have is pretty close.

It's A Case/Bose collaboration knife, the 2002 offering I think. I've seen it called both a pruner and a gardener's knife.

Was my Grandpa's and stamp is no later than '45

Very nice vintage scout knife and one you don't see every day anymore.. Thats terrific that you still carry her.

Incidentally, I've got that tang stamp at no older than 1940 according to the tang stamp reference document I received from Shirley Bose, former Case Historian at W.R. Case. Feel free to email me for a copy of it if you like.
