And a few pics from the IRM (Illinois Railway Museum). Pretty amazing to walk through the barns and read about these incredible feats of engineering and industry.
We saw the last steam engine to operate regularly in the US (1962), we saw the biggest and most powerful diesel locomotive ever made in the world, which was used to haul freight over the Continental Divide. I tried to capture the immense size of the drivers on this one…View attachment 2280923
