What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My favorite GEC etch is on this Northfield 22 Magnum.

The Sabot for a while. The Queen needs its oil refreshed, and the hunter is a bit much for my pocket, even with the single blade.

The big one was made in China exclusively for the members of the North American Hunting Club. I ground off a huge cosmetic flaw above the nail nick.
Been a long time since I read or heard about the North American Hunting Club. I was a member when I was a teenager.

You've reminded me of my grandma's button box Rachel :D My mother had one too, lots of interesting stuff in there! :D Hope you're having fun with your mom :)
People were serious about buttons back in the day. Really neat stuff, including a little pin with the red cross and "I Serve" on it. Apparently Grandma rolled bandages for soldiers in WWII. I did have to sort out a bunch of celluloid ones that were crumbling.
Bag Pipe Ebony Big 'Un and Charlie's new HJ for me today 🎉 :D Have a great weekend everyone

Whoa! When did those HJs come out?!? I must be out of the loop. Oh well, I'm carrying something with a punch today.

In Pocket Carry fore the week ... perhaps the rest of 08 and into 09? (or +)
Old Timer Schrade+ 858 Lumberjack Stockman
Unknown model Mikov with sparkley blue shell covers. Also has a bail, and the old style "Push To Release" tab blade lock.
The Mikov is going to be carried for more than a week. I "think" it looks good on the watch chain, so it may stay there from now on.😁

Hope it doesn't learn to swim
Jim’s been making me nervous with those knife in the boat photos for a long time😁
Whatever comes out:p
Usually the modified #49. It's now a single blade due to a backspring breaking.
At least you have four different scale materials that your fingers can discern.
Did you mod/repair the 49 yourself?

Have a wonderful Friday, people of The Porch. :)

Nice photo! I believe I have the same maker’s watchband.
Still carrying this one. It’s been slicing lots of tomatoes and peeling a few cucumbers. Life is good.

Great Old Timer🤙
Old and New, Kabar and GEC...

Thanks Steve, The Krack a Jack needs to be carried more, the KABAR is one of my favorite vintage knives, solid with no play whatsoever, centered in the well and just gets scary sharp. Nice duo your sportin today :)

Have a great weekend!!!
I can see why you love the old Kabar. That worn bone is gorgeous.

Cannot choose, but it will definitely be a Bret Dowell.
I think those swedges must take a high level of skill to shape…
Lovely pair, Greg.
Peanut cut some stuff and let me know there is a small hole in my shorts pocket.

Ouch! Glad you did not lose the Peanut.
I always carry a peanut or similar sized knife in my watch pocket. And did lose a little Schrade jack through a hole I didn’t realize was there. When I commented on the loss here, two fine Porchsters offered to replace it as a gift!
Hello, Porcheteers! Did I miss anything?
Mom's been visiting and she brought some old stuff for us to look through, including Grandma's old button box. I found a few interesting things.

@RickHuf , you're from the 'Burgh, right? I don't know if you're old enough to remember these.

Yes! You missed a lot of good knives, and some of my TLDR rambling. 😗
You’re really blessed to be able to get Mom down there and spend time together🥰

I dig the well loved German knife.
Todays carry.
Great knife and photos, John.
I lingered over the photo of the AC.

A while ago, I pulled all of the weeds out of the gravel around the walk by the garage leading to the front door. Mostly clover, with a couple of thistles, and a wild black raspberry that I presume was a gift from birds sitting on the bushes, and expelling the seeds after eating berries.
While marveling at the relentless ability of weeds to grow anywhere and everywhere, I remembered that the seed packet on my basil seeds said they grow well in sandy/gravelly soil. They were right.EDACCC1D-0DE4-4318-8B74-0DF88429E1A2.jpeg11E9AF8B-8564-4A28-AB47-FC0D8960BFDB.jpeg

Glennbad did the mod. We looked for replacement springs but at the time, zilch. I must admit it is very slim and carries well.
