Switched out the ebony Schatt heritage that I'd been carrying for the past few days for its rosewood brother. It is one of my favorite knives and one that I acquired early on when I decided to build a collection, really has an old timey look and feel to it with its steel liners and iron bolsters, IMO.
I’m with you, Greg — love the vibe of those particular S&M Heritage knives. 😎👍🏻

Stumbled across a display case of knives at an antique power equipment show (tractors, hit and miss engines, etc.) that has an associated flea market. Scored a Hen & Rooster 314DS Trapper in nice stag, a Remington R12 Trapper, a Case Electrician (1965-69), and a Western 742 Stockman. All require some cleaning and work. The Hen & Rooster will probably get the most pocket time. IMG_1571.jpeg

It is a very nice one, though!

You’re right about thr TL29 style utility blade, which is one reaso I carry one so often. The scraper section of that blade on the GEC is much sharper out of the factory than any standard TL-29 I’ve ever seen.
I do not have your skill for carving, but I do the same ~ one blsde gets the dirty work, one gets the easy/clean jobs.

Look at it this way ~ you could acquire a whole cigar box full of stag knives, without finding a prettier one. 🤙

Oh man, the memories. During my years working for a tree farmer, finding and fixing broken field tiles was a constant chore. Often, I was the one who’d find them. I’d see a sinkhole while out mowing. But sometimes, there’d just be a big wet area, which meant “fishing” with the backhoe.
Some of those tiles had been laid 100 years earlier, and we had to guess. Sometimes it was just patch, other times, we’d rip out entire sections of clay tile and lay all new pvc. Either way, I was the guy in the hole.
Good luck with your water bill!

I agree with Jeff. If you could only have one you picked a dandy!!
I agree, it is a looker. Only way it could get better is a clip point instead of a drop point. I'm lucky to have it.

New 501 "Larrin." It's truly fantastic.
Thank you.
This one is hard not to grab on a daily basis

Certainly understand what you mean. Looks like it is an awesome slicer
Carried this one today to take my wife out for Mexican food to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. My old 703 I received in 94 for my birthday from parents. I just felt it fit since also got married in 94.View attachment 2292770
Congratulations and hopes for many more.
