Thanks, Gary! Unfortunately, I don't have the slightest idea how to backtrack the L.L. Bean patterns. I wish I did! For all I know, it could be last year's model. 😂 **fingers crossed** another member will chime in. A little gapping, but it honestly doesn't bother me one bit. Just adds some character.👌🏻
One little trick to help see if there’s a hinge pin or not is to use a pencil on the bolster. Even a pin that’s so well fitted that you can’t see it, will show up with pencil graphite.
But besides Schrade and Camillus, it could have been made by Ulster.
I know what you mean, Jeff, but I think of my Camillus electrician as one of my pretty knives. It's black covers and silver hardware give it a very distinguished look! ;):thumbsup:

I googled "who made LL Bean's stockman pattern" and found quite a few sites that looked informative, but without having your knife in hand I couldn't really assess whether the photos I saw matched your knife. (Also, lots of claims being made without much evidence IMHO; several mentions of Camillus and of Western, and lots of claims for Ka-bar, but that may not have included stockmans. And there wasn't much date info that I saw in an admittedly-superficial scanning of some sites.)

You are so right, Gary ~ the TL-19/Electeician/Linesman is quite pleasing to my eye as well! 🤙 And the variations found between the dozens of brands is interesting.
It is quite a rabbit hole trying to find out where some retailers sourced their knives. Not only with TL-29s, but Sears, LL Bean, etc.

Those are Jack O Lantern mushrooms, and are not safe to eat. These are the largest I have ever seen. They also glow in the dark, pretty cool to see.

That is a 981316 Texas Cattle Knife, holding me over until I can find one of the Texas Camp knives. These are HUGE knives. Carrying it again today:

See, that’s why I’ve never taken up mushroom foraging ~ except for morels in the Ozarks.
But I do try to innoculate piles of woodchips to break them down into humus. I love sticking my fork into a pile and see it full of mycellium hyphea.

Cool photo there!🤙
That's a lot of Wad for a load of Shoddy
Ha! Love that colliquialism, Will.
I am going to use that next time the time is right!
I took my Bunny to the hop.

We had a vicar playing the piano to entertain before he took the service.

2 Cortados as the young girl serving was a trainee Barista, the first one wasn't good enough so the boss gave me both.

Looked around the antique shop and bought a old tin with the Queen on.

Bumped into some Norwegian soldiers over here to train with our lads, last time I met any was back in Bosnia in the 90s.

Warm mild day so the riding was lovely.
Thanks for taking the time to post your photos, John.
You’ve sparked a memory of my late son.
While his team was way out in the middle of nowhere in Khandahar Province, they met up with an Australian team, and spent some time making friends. One tradition is for guys to trade patches, even medals with allied soldiers. Jason and an Aussie took that one step further, and traded a complete set of BDUs.
I have that Aussie desert camo uniform stored in one of his lockers. I really don’t know what to do with them, maybe a museum would like them.
Those are some good looking knives, sir! I certainly wasn't intending to imply that Camillus < Schrade. I actually have a few older Camillus, but not nearly as nice as yours!👍 Just making a comparison based on what I have to reference. There's no doubt they made some fine knives!! I'm just partial to old Schrades because the first (and only) knife Dad gave me was a Schrade. I'm 100% certainly that's the ONLY reason why.

Further research indicates this LL Bean stockman is most likely not a Schrade. If that's the case, it's become both my nicest and favorite Camillus!! 😍
As good a reason for carrying Schrades as there is👌
Good luck with your research! But Schrade, Camillus, Ulster, Western… they are all as good as a knife can be.
Couple interesting finds today while in the "Museum of Appalachia". Even though I am not a museum fan, this was time well spent View attachment 2333358View attachment 2333359View attachment 2333360View attachment 2333361View attachment 2333362
Nice, Rick!
How’s that for a collector’s dream…find an old box of 12 Russel Barlows!
Like finding a ‘53 Telecaster someone stashed under the bed and forgot about😃
Safe to say the trails are not from incoming cruise missiles!
You’re not in Kiev, right?
I'll be carrying High Spade today; it's been too long.

But since I've been going on about Case stockmans, here are all of mine, to the best of my information and belief.
