Oh Boy, window washing day ! WooHoo !!!!
You know how it goes ~ ”Happy Wife…”
Sunny fall day, unusally warm at just under eighty degrees, and the Asian Beetles (not real Ladybugs), Stinkbugs, and Box Elder Bugs even Yellow Jackets, were all looking to get in, which was entertaining when we removed the windows.
Got a small lot of knives from the auction site today. This Old Timer Barlow 10OT I cleaned up, and other than rust from the years, it looks like it was never used. It looks like it still has its factory edges and the springs are still quite strong. So now it is in in my pocket.
Now I am itching to go look for the other knives from the Prince Albert promotional this knife was made for.
You really scored, Mighty Pen! Nice OT
If I could only carry one.......this would be my choice.
Is this a new one from GEC? I love it, and fully understand your claim. It’s got an excellent array of bladed.
I have been on the hunt for one of these for a little while, and this one arrived about 15 minutes before I walked out the door to head to the airport yesterday. I threw it in my checked bag and didn’t even get a good look at it until I landed last night, in Texas. Seems like an appropriate carry knife for today while I am here. A huge knife, with perfect action on all 4 blades. Looking forward to using this one.

Another one!

Now please remember to pack it in your checked bag before you get to the airline counter!
You do not want to fork that over to a TSA agent.
I’ve mentioned this before, but there are ebay sellers who have some arrangement with tge TSA, and sell confiscated knives. They’ll put up the nice collectibles individually, and many SAKs by the lot, and even by the pound. I’ve bought many SAKs that way, and even a very rare early Spyderco that way.
#86 today. Went after rainbows this evening. I hooked three; this was the only one I got in. Also thought you all might like to see my thirty year old Rapala fillet knife.

Gorgeous Rainbow, casting reel, and knives, my friend. I have the same filet knife, but usually carry the smaller one when I hit the river.
Back to work carry after 1 month short term disability. It was a very long day but I got through it.

Sorry you had to go through that, but I’m glad you’re getting back in action.
Kinda ironic considering your Forum name.
I went through short term disability, which morphed into long term disability, which then became “Jeff who? He doesn’t work here.”
Thanks! It's a nice oak table, but it's been around for a while and has had 7 rough years since it was drug out of retirement from my parent's attic to serve my family.
The only date I can find on it is 1904 stamped into the large latch to slide the table open to accept the leaves. My grandfather found it in the trash on his block in 1950 or 1951 and rolled it home. It was fixed and finished by a furniture shop sometime in the 60's and has had a few band-aid fixes since then. It went from attic to attic from the early 80's until 2016 when I drug it back out, fixed a few things and refinished it.
Now some of the butt joints on the top are starting to fail and the finish is starting to ware in spots. I am going to strip the finish, disassemble the table, remove the old band aid fixes and make all the necessary repairs before refinishing it again.
To keep on topic: same knife, different day…
Thanks for the details! As long as you have the tools, the time, and the skills, you’ll be creating a family heirloom.
What ya gonna build with all that lumber, Jeff? Or are you just a hoarder that can't see wood go to waste,.......like I am?

I once tried to salvage a diseased stricken white ash. Split a 6" length of log into 6 bow staves, shaped one to bend and had it explode at first bend. I made firewood out of the other 5 worm hole littered staves. Would have made some interesting lookin and useful lumber had I taken the route you did.
Yes, Greg, I am an incorrigible wood hoarder

I still have walnut from when we moved back from the Ozarks in the ‘80s.
I’ve used some of that ash. Grandpa’s huge old wheelbarrow needed new handles, so I took one of those 2” thick planks, and ripped that. Also have made one Telecaster body blank out of it, but at 12lbs it would be a boat anchor of a guitar. My plan now is to take two one inch thick planks, route out lightening chambers, sandwich them together, and make a guitar body out of that.
Wood Wednesday! Parker USA Pakkawood and old school non patterned Damascus.

Very cool knife! I have no Damascus, but I think the “old school” randomness looks the best
Thanks, Bart. And it’s a little more special since it was a gift from
SteveC
.
I’ve been blessed with gifted knives from fellow members, and it’s really nice totin and using them, as I’m sure you know with your gifted case from

Good Morning Porchsters,
I think this is about as simple a folding knife as its possible to get, a bit of horn and a bit of steel. No spring, the tang on the blade stops against a pin. I have this down as Turkish, bit I could be way off, and maybe used by an old farmer.

Nice! I do the same thing ~ try to imagine the original owner and how he used it.
Nice pair!
It’s strictly subjective, and a matter of personal aesthetics, but I think the Schrade Barlow bolsters are them best ever made.
I’m enjoying your orgy of new M&Gs, Travis. And with that great blade, this is my fave so far.
My eclectic mix today.
A little 06 and an old Queen.

Man, that old Queen is royalty!
