What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

You keep showing this knife. I am suffering from increasing avarice.

Drinkin an explosive brew, today?
I can’t seem to put the Camp Knife away. It has a great combination of blades for my uses and the quality of the knife is incredible.

The coffee mug I found this weekend at a Pottery Festival. The artist that made it had some incredibly sculptures of turbines made completely out of clay. He also had a lot of jokes about his pieces, and I decided this mug would be a good way to remember his other work.

Lately, yes. The last two times they've been lured away from my inner elbow by the flashy surface veins toward the outside, which apparently squish out of the way when stabbed at.
I've had an impressive string of blood drawers and shot givers over the past couple of years; have hardly felt any of their pokey tools. On the other hand, when my wife was getting prepped for her recent right knee replacement, someone came to put an IV in her left elbow but couldn't get into a vein the way she wanted to. Wanting to keep the IV on the opposite side from where the surgery would be, she decided to try to get the IV into a vein in the hand, but failed there as well. So she called in a back-up "IV pro", I guess, who also couldn't get an IV going in the left hand. So then the pro said we'll just have to go for the right hand and the surgeon can work around it. At that point, I suggested that since they were on the right side anyway, maybe they could go back to elbow placement as first choice. They both looked at me, and then the pro said, "Right; we can do that." It finally worked.

A very practical combination Gary :)
Excellent Pairing, GT. 🤠
Thanks, Jack & John. :) Since I carry a dozen knives, the odds are good that I can come up with at least one practical pairing! 🤓

I can relate to falling behind here, Gary. So much to do.
Ain't that the truth, Jeff?

Two cool knives Gary
Thanks again for the encouragement, Jack. :)

I too like the small print on both of the Barlows you mentioned GT.😊
:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

She seems to have lived a full life Gary. I'm still doing a genealogy search.
Congrats on your knife from Chris.
Thanks, Bob; I've been using the trapper Chris sent me for food prep ever since last Wednesday - it's a joy to use. :)
Is your Queen Barlow the model that has the aluminum cover over the back spring?

Thank you, the color is typically layered if I want to add depth to the piece. Darker shades as a base then build with lighter shades until I get the effect that I want. The last paint step is dry brushing, a high light color with almost zero paint in the brush. This is the technique for getting all the edges to pop.
Thanks for the details :); I don't have an artistic bone in my body, I fear.o_O

Even bought her cake mate! :D
So much for the cheap date! 🤓

I believe it is Gary, however, we did not have to turn on the water when we stayed there, cool little cabins.
Thanks for the confirmation, Todd.:) Ever since I started walking a lot when COVID appeared, I've become fascinated with all the manholes, access ports, concrete stamps, etc for utilities. One of these days, I'll start a thread with all the photos I have of knives with a vast variety of that interesting stuff on the ground!

One or both of these two, (along with a lamb of course), will be my carry for this month.

Couple of superb Barlows, Todd!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I must have missed it; when did you switch to a monthly carry schedule?

This makes my day! Great call Chris 321Bandaid 321Bandaid ! Chestnut is a great add for GT’s fine collection.
Preach it!🤓

Yessir! Long overdue, but I finally found some leather I think will match quite well. Coming soon...👍🏻

My 83 is without a doubt my favorite "small" knife. It's plenty big enough for most of my daily tasks and doesn't offend. Although it's much smaller, it has the same great feel to it as my 73. It just "feels good".
Looking forward to seeing your lanyard one of these days!:cool::thumbsup:

Pretty bone on that stockman Gary. 😎👍
Good pairing Gary !
I appreciate the kind words, guys! :)

Case, Camillus, and Sabre Japan.
I specify Japan because I have at least one Sabre Ireland and one Sabre China.
You could post that trio for almost a week, just switching the order of which knives are top, middle, and bottom!:cool::cool:
I have Sabres from Japan (Daddy Barlow) and Ireland (trapper), and a stockman from Hong Kong. Is that different than China?

Nothing but the best for my "users". 😁
:cool::thumbsup:🤓

Mr. P, I know you know your knives are gorgeous and that's why you bought them, but sometimes I just have to let you know. Your NYKCs are, what do the kids say these days... Amazeballs? On Fleek?
I never heard of either of these terms, and when I looked up the second one, I found out it was invented in 2014. I don't do slang; it's too temporary for a slow-witted old gent like me!

Dig the Stockman, Gary. If it weren’t for your deep collection and meticulous rotation discipline, that pair would serve as someone’s only two knives.
Thanks, Jeff, and I can believe your claim.:thumbsup::cool: I'm too easy to please knife-wise. Most of the time, I tend to think that the knife I'm currently using could easily be my one-and-only!

I have a silly little plush toy left over from a fundraiser our school did earlier in the year. I usually just get rid of them, but this one is a turtle…so…🤣View attachment 2376636
I'll bet that photo could have sold a lot of those turtles for your school here on The Porch, Todd! 😁:thumbsup:

Bob, the Queen Barlow model I was thinking of is not like yours. A model like I had in mind happened to show up in a post by screened porch screened porch in a fairly recent thread about the construction of knives with solid brass covers:
This is the one I was thinking of.

The knives are nice but the axe caught my attention. Wow
