What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Choice inspired by Leslie Tomville Leslie Tomville . I have to agree that the splitback Whittler has near ideal blade choices. In my case, it’s not a redbone Case, but a Schrade 804 in delrin.

Have a great day, friends.👋🏻

Isn’t the Buck Woodsman a great knife?
I wish mine had the old style sheath like yours. I am not a fan of the newer style with the stupid plastic liner and snap strap. Not only is it awkward to re-sheath one handed, the loose fit and platic liner makes it rattle.View attachment 2382423
I couldn’t agree more on the Woodsman. A lot of folks complain about the relatively small handle, but it suits me just fine. I am not chopping wood with it! 🤪 I do enjoy the traditional sheath and when I can find a 102 with the old-style sheath, I pick them up. Someday, my kids will ponder, why did dad have so many of these?

And what’s wrong with Hallmark movies? That’s about all we watch.🤗

That or Matock or Perry Mason.

Be happy it wasn’t HGTV.
I’m with you on Perry Mason and Matlock. I just get the feeling when I see a Hallmark movie that I’ve seen it before, even if I’ve never seen it before. What I really prefer in a waiting room is no TV at all.

It's a thrill to see that Arthurian legend again, John! :thumbsup::thumbsup: 🤓

Took the day off to visit Boxley Valley near the Buffalo National River to see the elk while the rut was still going on. Missed the colors by a week. +View attachment 2378457
That 2-blade Catt teardrop is outstanding (as are your nature photos)!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

HIS FAULT!!!! If he had not shot at me I would not have drawn and shot at him!
If I carry a handgun for self defense, and get it out if someone attacks me, doesn't my assailant also have the right to defend herself or himself as soon as I pull my gun? Or is it a case of, "Mom, HE started it!" (That "excuse" never went over well with my parents if I or any of my siblings tried it.)

Cherish the Churchill! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

All y'all have a good day and a good time travel :)
When my daughter was a kid and we'd watch Star Trek (of whatever vintage) together on TV, she'd always warn me, "Oh-oh, Dad, this looks like one of those time travel episodes that you think are so stupid!" :rolleyes:🤓

Watching it rain. Was gonna sit out in the yard in the sun but that's not happening now. I've got this Otter-Messer in my pocket and the Remington Prospector in a belt sheath. Sausage and ????? for breakfast.

Nice Ankermesser, ED! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
I've become a big fan of knives with a hefty sheepsfoot blade and a substantial wood handle:

I have several Peanuts, but I have a yellow pen knife just like yours, Bart, that I'd prefer to carry over any of my Peanuts. :cool::thumbsup::cool:

P.S. should have mentioned that 1970 will have ten dots. Case takes one away for each year so a '78 would have two dots and a '79 one. Then in 1980 a new tang stamp is introduced. So on and etc.
Maybe I'm weird, but for Case tang stamps, I always count the missing symbols (can you actually count what's missing? o_O) and add that to the "decade starter". So on a Case with 2 dots showing, I think "8 dots missing, 1970+8 = 1978." Or maybe that's exactly what you said, Mike, and I don't realize it.:rolleyes:

Love the Schrades on parade, Jeff! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Oh, sorry. Interesting.
It puzzles me that people made fine knives without putting their name on them.
Didn't a lot of American knife companies make knives for the military during WWII that were only marked with USA?

John Lloyd Lannys clip in Micarta , love how this engraved shield turned out 👌View attachment 2380258
I'm a big fan of shields that are recognizable "real world objects"! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
(But I like abstract geometrical shields, too.)

Totin' "Tetanus" as my co-workers call it! 😂

Creative name! 😁😁

Sticking with my well used Case today. Still great snap and it's easy to keep really sharp

Superb vintage Case! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I've enjoyed seeing your pair of old Imperials lately! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Sunday best down on the reservoir. :cool:

Awesome knife, and first-rate photos! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
What's the "official name" of the black water fowl?

Thanks for clarification Gary.
:thumbsup::)

Been super busy. My high school football team I coach is in the playoffs. We won our 1st round matchup! Enjoying Sunday! Cheers!

Thanks Gary. I just started last month. Carried the coffin jack and lamb for October, and enjoyed not having to think about it every morning so I’d thought I’d try it again this month.

That would’ve been a great idea! 😄👍
Thanks for the info, Todd. Your reasoning is basically what made me take up weekly carries way back when, and eventually go to a schedule that now lasts me more than a year at a time. :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I have a million "great ideas" but a lot less than a million dollars from suggesting and/or implementing them. 🤓

I carried my ettrick today pictured here on top of my Grandpa’s old fishing net.

Well, we all had to start somewhere.
Instead of a Cub Scout Camp Knife, and a Fish Knife from Grandpa, you just went straight to fancy. Nice knife👌

At some point, I realized that the last thing I want to do is get in a knife fight. Plus, I had a Buck tactical flipper fail on me while cutting field tiles under muddy/sandy water, and cut the backs of three fingers deeply.
Never had a slipjoint close on my fingers while making a cut.
Went back to slipjoints and fixed blades.
I do carry a Spyderco Police in my car, along with a Buck 119, though.

Yeah there are about three basic plots, all with slight variations. And as soon as the pretty girl realizes her slug boyfriend has to go, and Mr Right is right in front of her, and they kiss, that’s The End🤣
But I cannot just watch teevee without a book or my phone to read. And I mute the commercials because the rx drug commercials drive me nuts. “Side effects may include…”
(Ok, “That’s not a drive, that’s a putt”, as my Dad says)

This knife is NOT flipper bait ~ It’s a Keeper!

Refresh my memory on the backstory of the stamp ~ did it come from GEC that way?

Another foggy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Looks like it will clear up later. Going to see an oral surgeon later for a consultation. Need to have some teeth removed ☹️. Will take the R9 out to ride across the City. Along for the ride the usual lamb and Lil Ike. Have a great day folks!

Only bad thing was that they keep the waiting room TV on Hallmark movies all the time.
"Bad"? 🤯😳😳 You being mighty generous with your assessment there. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😇

"Worst Channel EVER" is a huge understatement.🤨

"I like Ike" Hope your visit proves fruitful Dan.👍🏻

Try to get to the doc again tomorrow. All the "gods" and "demons" willing, my ride will show up.🙄
Decided on a Laguiole and the Huntsman in RFP. (Huntsman clipped to belt & hung in pocket, Laguiole loose in the bottom.) for the visit.
The Hercules (and a "few" others I normally keep there) is clipped to the rollator's tote/shopping wire basket.

fingers (and tows) crossed my ride shows up.
(I ain't going to hold my breath if it is the same company. I'd likely turn a mite green depending on them... 🙄)
