What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I see many figuring out the perfect combo for their carries. Good choices Todd.👌
Enjoy the fire for me...we have rin.
Thanks Bob, we could use some rain but no complaints right now. 😎
Yesterday’s carry, a Schrade 893.

Nice one Bart, can’t get over how blue that sky is! 😎👍

How do those P90's in that Epi sound? I just rebuilt an Agile PS900 and put a set of Guitar Madness clones of Gibson P94's ALINCO 2 magnets not the ones with ceramic magnets and it sounds great, Bourne pots, Switchcraft switch Gavitt wire TUSQ XL nut Grover locking tuners.

I don’t even know yet, Randy. I haven’t gotten to it yet. But since it’s hard to mess up a P90…😉
I’ve heard good things about the P94s.
Interesting that they used A2. Probably a nice upgrade. I think ceramics are the usual P90 magnets and they usually sound fine, but in Fender type single coils, I much prefer Alnicos. I have a set in A3 in a Tele that aren’t going anywhere, but I’d like to try some A2s sometime.

Nice looking Axe, Randy ~ what is that blonde amp?

And quite a lovely Catt!
Thank you Jack :)
Old Schrade Cut Co and new Viper...

When I was a teen, this would have been about 1970, visiting my cousin in rural Indiana, we rode bikes to an old abandoned factory to explore. We were able to get inside, and it was a real time capsule. I have no idea what they made there, but it had every type of tooling machinery imaginable ~ lathes, mills, drill presses, and a lot of others, all driven by a comlex overhead network of drive belts.

Seeing your beautiful SCC makes me imagine a Holyoke Belting salesman carrying a stash of those knives to hand out to purchasing managers in hopes of a nice factory belt order. 🤙

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a Camillus 21 (thanks, Mike):
camillus.21.mark.open.jpg

Lambsfoot of the Week is Cracker Jack, my Ashley's Choice stag lambsfoot, a Jack Black SFO from A. Wright & Son. (IIRC, these photos were taken exactly one year ago today, when the high temperature for the day was a record 75˚F. Starting five days later, we got a total of 27" of snow over 6 consecutive days. Lot of "weather whiplash" in my area last winter!)

Same as yesterday! As I continue to venture down Knife Rd., I've struggled to accept the ole' barlow pattern. My tendency to overthink things just couldn't get past the perceived bulk:blade ratio. With that being said, I'm pretty sure this has already become one of my favorites. Super solid and a bit different. I'm mostly grateful that it didn't come with a box.👍🏻

Nice! That's a great blade combo! What do know about the knife? Is old Queen, or new Queen? I know they used a lot of D2. I'm no expert on the brand.

Thank you Steve, nicely-matched pair my friend

Love that old blade stamp Paul

Hope everyone has had a good day :) Treating myself to a Double Lambsfoot Day :)

Sticking with these and starting with a fire…I know…shocking! 🤣View attachment 2385768
Love this pair. The old Barlow is always a winner 👌🏼.

Love the covers on this Queen!

I don't know all the details, but this is a Queen Dan Burke "DB" barlow (small). I think it was made around 2000ish, maybe later. Almost certain it's D2. I've wanted one of these since I first saw them! Super solid and snappy!! Just needs a good sharpening. Hard to tell in the pics, but the color is very similar to Case's chestnut bone (one of my favorites). This one won't be leaving anytime soon! 🤓

Thanks Jeff, I sit and think about what a vintage knife has been through over all the years gone by. Some where used up and some still used but well maintained, as if they needed that knife for years to come and still used it, but also they were mindful of the use it'd provide by keeping it serviced, sharpened and oiled etc...

We'd explore old Mills in our area and walk the catwalks at night, the same Mill where my dad would catch and sell pidgeons when he was a kid. Eventually it met the wrecking ball and no longer stands. But it had hundreds of feet of old belting and thats how we got from one side to the other. Must have 60/70 ft in the air. To think a salesman from Holyoke could have been there trying to close a deal is a pretty neat thought :)

Oh OK! I remember the Dan Burke Barlows now! Here's a link I found. Looks like the one you have, https://www.knifecenter.com/item/QN9867/queen-dan-burke-2-blade-small

Here is a DB Barlow with a more orangish cover. Great knife. D2 steel. Just a little warning about the backspring. They sometimes break.
Barlows are great. There are plenty out there. Case, Queen and a Robeson
