What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Hope everybody's having a fine morning ☕
I'm getting ready to go to Tennessee for a week or two, so I think I'll pull the batteries out of the bike and mower today. The bike's kind of done for the moment anyway. I rode Tuesday and did not like the look of the rear tire when I got back. I was planning on replacing it next spring anyway, but it caught me off guard how fast it's worn down in the last few rides. Its probably got a thousand miles of life left, but I'm very conservative when it comes to motorcycle tires, cause the ground hurts ;)
Anyway, enough prattling on 🤓
Cards this evening 💸

Hope everyone's day goes well.
The all animal team today.

Off to get my second shingles shot. A friend only got one and just came down with it.😧View attachment 2392867
Good luck to your friend. My Mom had shingles and she said it was most awful thing. And she was really tough.
When you buy an old vintage knife, and you see that it has a crack in the bone, you ought to seep some thin grade super glue in the crack to stabilize it. And using a slip like the ones @JohnDF makes would help too. If you don’t do these things, you may lose that little piece of cracked bone.
I tried that on cracked horn handle, but I think most of it just got on the outside. Couldn't really tell how much actually made it into the crack. Any tips?

A partly cloudy day here in the City by the Bay! Got some rain last night forecast is for more tomorrow. It’s somewhat sad that many of the downtown restaurants thought APEC would be a boon for their business but with all the street closures many just closed rather than loose money. No major plans for today. Keeping me company my EO lamb and Lil Ike. Have a great day folks! 😀

Stan didn't like long-pulls, mainly because he put his nail-nicks in with the strike of a hammer I suspect! :D I think a long-pull can look OK on a Lambsfoot, but I prefer a nick I think. I like the long, deep ones, like on the knife below Stan's fancy one, which is one of the Guardians 2018 SFO

Always a pleasure to see one of Stan’s knives. Must’ve been a treat to watch him work and do things the old ways.

Sorry Barrett, my memory has failed me. I stand corrected! The Cossack was only ever that single story building, though it was well-known, as you will have discovered. I remember it stood empty for a few years, and I remember reading an article about a campaign to save it. I'd forgotten about Kayes, which I never went in. I forget what the other shop was, a jewellers possibly. The Howard is an awful pub, usually full of football hooligans drinking bottled lager  When I was young, Howard Street was quite an important thoroughfare, as it lead to the train station, and there were some interesting shops, including The Olde Wee Cutlery Shoppe, and Bennett's fishing tackle shop (I used to tie trout flies for them). Most of the buildings, at the top of the street, on the opposite side of the road, are still there, but they are mainly just sandwich shops and cafes now, and even 'The Globe' pub, the only good one on the street, has changed a lot. Thanks for the memories my friend :)

It happens to the best of us. 🙂

Thanks for sharing those old photos. I remember walking up Howard Street (which is pedestrian now, of course) from the train station to my hotel. Looks a lot different now, doesn’t it?

I imagine most of us would have a field day if we could go back and look through that old cutlery shop! 😁

Look at that feast! I’m sure SJ was on cloud nine to be eating waffles with her daddy. Well done Jeremy!
Thanks Jon. Oh she was definitely in the clouds (one on one time with the other two in school doesn’t come often); I didn’t think she could finish a waffle the size of her head… well she proved me wrong!

Happy Birthday to SJ.
An awesome way to spend a day
Thank you!

Special times...dad and daughter. So nice that you got to share a morning, especially on SJ's b-day.
Great cattle knife and sheath.
Thanks Bob! Special times indeed.

I hope SJ had a very Happy Birthday, that looks like a feast! :) I have a near identical slip (and pen) in my pocket! :D
She did indeed Jack, and that was just the start 🙂. Pen/Knife fit like a glove 👍🏽

Staying home this morning but have an appointment for Cindy for a CT-Scan late this afternoon. Lunch at the Wagon Wheel Cafe before we go for the appointment. Sausage and eggs for breakfast. This CV Sowbelly will be my carry today.
