What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Cracking pairing Paul :)
Took the day off to spend the morning with my youngest ‘SJ’ on her birthday (now 4!). Breakfast at a diner at the old neighborhood that I hadn’t been to in about a decade.

Been carrying the cattle knife since Monday; it may stay in the pocket this whole week. With this amazing slip by @sbh06 to carry it, how can I not?

I hope SJ had a very Happy Birthday, that looks like a feast! :) I have a near identical slip (and pen) in my pocket! :D
If you get a few minutes Jack will you post some pictures of the coining and filework on Stans knife, That looks absolutely amazing! how would you feel about a long pull on that style?
Stan didn't like long-pulls, mainly because he put his nail-nicks in with the strike of a hammer I suspect! :D I think a long-pull can look OK on a Lambsfoot, but I prefer a nick I think. I like the long, deep ones, like on the knife below Stan's fancy one, which is one of the Guardians 2018 SFO

Thanks Jack!

Always good to have happy pockets!
Definitely my friend :D :)
You’re the expert, of course, but when you follow Google street view around to the front of that building, it says “The Howard.”

I looked up The Cossack to see what I could find. Some colorful history there. More recently, what I found was that it was shut down in 2003 and demolished in 2008 (those dates certainly aren’t from an academic source, so don’t quote me on their accuracy).

Based on this old photo, though, I think it’s safe to say that The Cossack and the building next to it (Kaye’s, in this photo at least) were indeed demolished at some point prior to the painting of that mural, and that the space they used to occupy is now the green space in your photo there, and that the mural was painted on the larger wall seen here beyond those two buildings.

Sorry Barrett, my memory has failed me. I stand corrected! The Cossack was only ever that single story building, though it was well-known, as you will have discovered. I remember it stood empty for a few years, and I remember reading an article about a campaign to save it. I'd forgotten about Kayes, which I never went in. I forget what the other shop was, a jewellers possibly. The Howard is an awful pub, usually full of football hooligans drinking bottled lager  When I was young, Howard Street was quite an important thoroughfare, as it lead to the train station, and there were some interesting shops, including The Olde Wee Cutlery Shoppe, and Bennett's fishing tackle shop (I used to tie trout flies for them). Most of the buildings, at the top of the street, on the opposite side of the road, are still there, but they are mainly just sandwich shops and cafes now, and even 'The Globe' pub, the only good one on the street, has changed a lot. Thanks for the memories my friend :)

"thinking" isle go with "fancy" Buck's this Friday and weekend:
2018 CPM154 BF 2 blade 🥺 301 "stockman", and either a CPM154 or S-30V 110.
A standard 301 stockman and 110 are always a viable option .... d-sehzzuns ...d-sehzzuns ...🤔🙄

EDIT:
See post 271030 next page.

SAK of the Week is a Tinker (it and a Classic that I ordered as a "package deal" online from Menard's were my first Victorinox knives):

I guess I never handled a Tinker, but I see it has the exact same tool set as the Wenger Canyon that has been in my lfp almost every day lately. 893ADBF2-9CAD-44C3-8C9E-3347651253A5.jpegThey made an almost identical one called the Viking, with the only difference being that it has a corkscrew instead of the phillips screwdiver. I have one of those, but it’s in the kitchen utensil drawer.

Anyway, I always had a preference for Wengers over Victorinox. Probably because they were the underdog that got swallowed up. There are other subtle differences, like blade shapes, and small size differences, but either brand is a good one to have on you. 🤙
