A cane can make a guy look quite dapper, Bob!Ok, it's no more cane day. To celebrate, I have a give away.
I only ask that you are a regular visitor to the porch( I retain the right to acknowledge your status). No congrats please.
He or she who is closest to guessing month and day of my wife's birthday will win both knives. ( Case '65-'69 and custom Waboom Margrate). I will announce winner on Tuesday 1 pm.
Post guess and I will acknowledge with thumbs up.
I apologize now if this takes up too much space. I really don't know any other way.View attachment 2388476
Gary,
Your Watts is intriguing, but I really like your RR dogleg.![]()
Thanks, Bob & John. That's a pretty cool looking little pocket knife.![]()

Thanks.I'm liking that Case... very much.
Thanks for your consistent encouragement, Bob.Nice carries today Gary....you are in.
Thanks for the info, Todd. I'm a little bit disillusioned: I always figured you as a campfire-charred-steak-for-breakfast kind of guy!Not usually breakfast Gary, but steaks find their way over the fire quite often.![]()
I know what you mean, Barrett. Thanks, GT. I was only slightly nervous about knocking one into the lake!![]()
Gary, whether it’s knives or guitars, The More I Know, The More I Know I Know I Don’t Know…
Thanks for the compliment, buddy!
I don't go to Menard's very often, so I'm not very familiar with how the 11% rebate works. I thought that a knife I bought there in-person generated a receipt that noted a rebate I could only use in-store for another purchase. So you only save money if you spend money twice, which is usually one time more than I really "need to" buy stuff.Do you get to mail in for the 11% rebate when you Save Big MoneyAt Menards?
I guess I never handled a Tinker, but I see it has the exact same tool set as the Wenger Canyon that has been in my lfp almost every day lately. View attachment 2392945They made an almost identical one called the Viking, with the only difference being that it has a corkscrew instead of the phillips screwdiver. I have one of those, but it’s in the kitchen utensil drawer.
Anyway, I always had a preference for Wengers over Victorinox. Probably because they were the underdog that got swallowed up. There are other subtle differences, like blade shapes, and small size differences, but either brand is a good one to have on you.![]()
I had no idea you could actually exchange unappreciative kids for Goods and Services! My daughter is 35 now, so I'm pretty sure I'm not authorized to trade her in.My friends, for the remainder of the day I’ll be carrying my A Wright Lambsfoot gifted to me by @sf fanatic! It’s my first lambsfoot and I’m loving it! Pinchable with a perfect pull and gorgeous, too!
Also pictured are two beautiful works by @Jiki. I traded two spoons and a spootanula for these bad boys! Jim is an amazing carver but he’s a terrible negotiator because he got ripped off big time in this trade!!!!
My son is taking the Santa for show and tell tomorrow!! Little turd hasn’t ever taken anything I carved so I may trade him to Jim for some more cool stuff!
But seriously, I can’t express how good it makes me feel to know that there are such kind and wonderful human beings in the world. Thank you so much, gentlemen. These will be treasured gifts that are passed on to my son someday. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Very nice Case Vince. That apple should get the patina going.
Thanks, Bob. But the blade is stainless. Got a nice patina on my two-blade mini-trapper. I love Case's CV steel.Very nice Case Vince. That apple should get the patina going.

Interesting to see the Slater name, and particularly that blade stamp, on a pattern I would associate with Joseph Elliott/Lockwood Brothers. Very nice Paul
Cool pic TimHave a great weekend everyone.

Well, I'm no expert, but most of their traditional pocketknives come with "Tru-Sharp" stainless steel (marked "SS" on the blade tang). Thanks for the education Vince. I own case's but know nothing about the steel.![]()
Very interesting finds Jack.I was supposed to attend a UK knife show a couple of months ago, withJohnnythefox . but unfortunately I came down with Covid a couple of weeks before, and didn't want to risk making anyone else ill
There was a knock on my door this afternoon, and the postman delivered a bumper box of goodies from John, some of which are from the show
Watch this space, some cool stuff there!
