What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

After seeing pat9198 pat9198 Lil Muk, I had to add my Nessmi to my Traditional carry today. It really is a handy little knife.

Ok The fixed blade looks nice. Perfect size for a lot of chores

Very nice
Thank you much, Rick. It is my attempt at a Bird ‘N Trout Knife.
I looked on the internet til I found one I liked, and holding a piece of paper up to the computer monitor, traced it.
Then I ground it (slowy, with a lot of H2O to keep from overheating the steel) on my bench grinder out of an old flea market file. Moved on to the 1” belt sander, then to sandpapers stuck to a flat piece of marble. It’s nothing fancy, grind-wise, mostly flat, slightly convex, very sharp. But I’m not a real cutler…

Very good carbon steel in old files. And they were 99 cents each at the flea market.

Elk antler scales from the dog chew aisle in a store, and a homemade sheath.
I love the “Farmer’s $2 Favorite” blade etch, Travis.
It reminds me of some of the scans of old knife catalogs where they list the wholesale cost ~ “ Dealer Cost, & $4.00/Dozen”.
Sorry I haven’t been in here on the frequent folks. Life has kept me insanely busy. Hope all are well.
It’s a beautiful morning!

Good ro see you post, good to hear you’re busy, because that is good for you, and YES ~ it is a good morning, indeed 😊

Stull using the High Carbon Premium Cattle made by Camillus for Sears, pre-Craftsman days, and this Klein Lockback.

My Brother-In-Law has worked for a wholesale electrical supply house pretty much all of his life, and they carry Klein electrician’s tools. Many year ago, at least 20 years, he gave me this Folding Hunter for Christmas. It’s basically a clone of the Buck 110, made in Japan of some very hard Stainless. Initially, it was very difficult to sharpen, but I got it shaving sharp, and it really holds the edge now.

I have always liked this knife, so a few years ago, I hunted down the other two Kleins on the ‘bay.03EFFD78-F454-442C-A6F6-FDDAB13BB0B6.jpeg

Thank you! I bought this when I couldn’t find the one you’re carrying today. 🤣
Too funny! I had to search high and low to find that Solingen made Nessmi, and paid a premium for it I think! I like that Lil Muk though!
I'm a big Nessmuk fan. As a young man I camped and canoed many of the Adirondack Lakes he wrote about.

I was shopping on the web three or four days ago and ran across this well worn Buck 112. All scratched up with a terrible edge from clumsy sharpening and a slightly rounded point. Couldn't pass it up. Dropped out of the mailbox yesterday and I've already cleaned it up and have started fixing the other issues. It's raining here now with snow expected later so, I'll tote this 112 today. A quick desk shot. Some of you eagle eyed guys/gals/youngsters will notice the USPS receipts for a couple of packages I have in the system so keep a sharp eye out for your postman the next few days. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

Good evening porchsters,

Not used one of these for donkey's years.

Chamfered some sawn timber, to save me get the sander out. Chopped the onion and cut a chicken into eighth's (bones and all) for chicken curry stew. Very capable knife, it just goes to show how versatile good geometry and hard steel can be. Cuts better than knives 20 times the price.

Picked up a Becker/Ka-Bar Kephart during Ka-Bar's early Black Friday sale this week, so I'm taking it with me for today's hike with the dogs -- stag Muskrat for the pocket...

And, earlier this morning, something new to me -- Mr. Mallard decides to try some berries...

There really is something about bringing an old knife back to life, good on you sir.

A cloudy rainy day here in the City by the Bay! Just got back from my weekly pilgrimage to the grocery store. Along for the ride with a nod to Stag Saturday an EO lamb and Lil Ike. Watching some football and preparing for my grandsons seventh birthday party tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! 😀
