Thanks Bob! Nothing like a bunch of seven year olds running around a place calle, “Rock&Jump”Nice carries and may your grandson have a great birthday.![]()
Looks great Jeff. Would not known it.Thank you much, Rick. It is my attempt at a Bird ‘N Trout Knife.
I looked on the internet til I found one I liked, and holding a piece of paper up to the computer monitor, traced it.
Then I ground it (slowy, with a lot of H2O to keep from overheating the steel) on my bench grinder out of an old flea market file. Moved on to the 1” belt sander, then to sandpapers stuck to a flat piece of marble. It’s nothing fancy, grind-wise, mostly flat, slightly convex, very sharp. But I’m not a real cutler…
Very good carbon steel in old files. And they were 99 cents each at the flea market.
Elk antler scales from the dog chew aisle in a store, and a homemade sheath.
Nice pairing.A cloudy rainy day here in the City by the Bay! Just got back from my weekly pilgrimage to the grocery store. Along for the ride with a nod to Stag Saturday an EO lamb and Lil Ike. Watching some football and preparing for my grandsons seventh birthday party tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
