What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I have recently grown fond of Finnish puukko's (like I would have stopped liking them). I have now two of the Wood Jewel puukko's, an 80 mm blade and this new, 66 mm blade. This smaller one I plan to modify to be either neck knife or pocket carry. These knives can be found on tourist shops, but despite that they are very decent knives with Laurin metalli blades, those are used by a number of puukko makers. These knives are not strictly traditional with handle finger notches, but I like the style and they fit my hand well. I opened the trad back seam and am making the sheath to a side seam for a better pocket carry. I used the original, good plastic liner, just shortened it a bit. I might do something with the handle pommel, it is a bit big for my taste.

This is the 80 mm blade. The sheath leather on this one was thinner, not as good as on the smaller one, so I made a new of thicker stock. This one I call a "jacket pocket" knife, since it is too big for pants pocket carry.

That was really thoughtful John, I appreciate it :) I'm still gutted I missed the show 😢 I figured you had done something to the Svord, what a special knife, it's great to see the pics of it from your amazing trip  I'm sorry that I never got to meet Robert, but you made some great choices, he certainly had an amazing collection. Thanks for the info on the pen, it's absolutely beautiful. Those are fabulous pics  My great uncle was at Monte Cassino (and at Tobruck and Al Alamein). He joined the Queen's Bays as a boy, a couple of years before the war, and ended up driving tanks. He had one heck of a war (got blown up 3 times). Thanks again for your kindness John, I appreciate everything you included, and the thought that went into it. I'm carrying the Svord today, together with my Sheldon pattern Lambsfoot, which @seas165 recently gifted me :) Hoping to catch up later, but have a great weekend everyone

My pleasure, its probably obvious but you can adjust the friction by adjusting the screws on the Svord to how you like it.

If you collect Stag Knives , then it is worth it . If you just collect knives , then it is a judgement call . I wanted a Grohmann folder for my collection and I also like Stag very much . I was able to get this one for a very good price and it was well worth it IMO . Right now it is not as easy to find decent Stag as it was 5 years ago , so you have to get it when you can .

Harry

Thank you for your reply and the info! I didn't realize good stag was getting harder to find, so I may have to push the Grohmann to the top of the list. I don't have any stag yet, but have always wanted one. The Grohmann's look and lines are oddly attractive, especially with the stag.
