Friday work carry, actually sitting on the work ( a scrap piece of casing I was using to get the shellac flowing off my rubber ).

On the run again, got a Scout campout this weekend so likely won't be back on the porch 'till next week. No hope of catching up, but rest assured it does *bother* me that I will miss seeing some of your knives and hearing about fun fall weekends.
Oh, you’re gonna have fun this weekend, Fred!
Way back, I was in a great Scout Troop. Our Scoutmaster was kind of a badass. Not to us, but he was a Green Beret Vietnam vet. He used to have us sit on his back, and do push ups…
Years later, my brother got into judo, and when he mentioned the name of a judo legend he’d met, ir turned out to be my old Scoutmaster.
Anyway, I became an Asst Scoutmaster so I could go on all those camping trips with my Boy Scout sons. Great nemories!
Check out this awesome mod glennbad glennbad did for me!!!! He didn’t even laugh at me when I asked for a cap lifter and beard comb combo!!!

Glen can do it all. 🤙
Looks great Jeff. Would not known it.
Thanks again, buddy!😉
There have been a couple of very nice stag Grohmann's posted recently. I've had a rosewood Mini Russell for a while now. Its a nice knife and I quite like its rather unique shape. I don't carry it often, but that's more a symptom of too many knives o_O Anyway, it had a couple of minor fit and finish issues. It's very slightly proud. Not really, but close enough that the blade can be opened if one runs the tip of their finger along the groove:

It also has very slight blade wobble. Not enough to be a bother, but I'll admit I like it better when there isn't any play when a knife is open. Its a good knife. I like enough that I bought another one. Can't pass up a good deal  View attachment 2395829
The new one isn't proud and locks up tight  I also think the wood on the new one is prettier View attachment 2395833
The new on is on top.

What surprised me is the extra thickness. The handles on the new one don't blend into the bolsters, and the overall width is noticeably greater.

The tangetch is different:

I like these Grohmann's. I think that at some point I wouldn't mind picking up a fixed blade. Maybe a Bird & Trout.

The car's packed and I'm ready to go tomorrow. If the weather cooperates, the plan is to do a massive leaf round-up early in the week, then get fed a meal that can't be beat by my cousins View attachment 2395871
All y'all Americans have a good Thanksgiving, and safe travels if you're traveling. Everybody else have a good Thursday. Maybe eat a some kind of bird 🦃:D
I'll try to check in from the cemetery occasionally View attachment 2395873

Its where I go to get a good cell signal :)
First of all, have a safe drive. And don’t forget to lock up the house.
Last month we flew to Florida for five days, and when we got home, we discovered we’d pulled out and left the garage door open. Nothing happened ~ benefit of having a lot of growth blocking the view of the house, and living in s small subdivision in the country.

You can fix that proud blade by filing the kick there on the tang. Just a few swipes with a file, check… repeat until the blade sits properly. A proud blade with cut you!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family, Mike.
Awesome hat, Mitch!
We are in texas once again for an enduro. Naturally I brought a texas pattern stock knife.

I love my 881s, but never noticed they called it Texas pattern!🧐
Toted this one in the woods all day. It was sufficient.😉
A gunshot very close by out back right after dawn this morning reminded me not to take my dog into the woods this weekend. The guy that owns the woods behind us leases deer hunting rights to some city guys…
These in my pockets today . It has been toooooooo long since I have carried them together .

Nice Kephart, and that's a winning wildlife photo
Many thanks, Jack! Looking forward to getting to know the Kephart. As for the photo, I saw the Mallard make his first attempt at the berries -- something I had never seen before. I figured he might try it again, and I was ready when it happened. :)

The Viper has got to be one of the top ten GEC patterns. These two are almost ten years apart in age. The consistency is impressive. Ebony and Sambar Stag are the best. Throw in some dyed sawcut and jigged bone, and I do not need anything else. GEC has used some great Ebony in recent runs. I love the lightness of Ebony, plus there is no need to worry about it darkening with age. As for Stag, I fall into the camp of no Shield, no Stag!

Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund , beautiful pair of old survivors Jeff!

Ironbut Ironbut , love that Opinel. What is the handle material, a mod or original?

Couple of small puukko's with sheaths made for pocket or neck carry. Lover one is the Wood Jewel I showed earlier, now with the sheath ready made of the materials of the original sheath, I made the pommel of the knife more to my taste. In my opinion it fits my hand now better. The upper one is a small Tommi I bought from northeast Finland, where the maker has his workshop. Wood Jewel sheath has the original plastic liner slightly modified, the Tommi sheath has inside leather liner hardened with wood glue. I quess my stiching and leatherwork can be improved, but I enjoy the process.
