Thank you Jeff, that's an interesting knife, looks like that feller knew what he was doingGood insights on knife guards!
I picked this Bowie up at a little Ozark gunshop back in the early ‘80s for my truck driver’s weekly lunch budget of $20.
All I know about it was that some local guy forged it, and stamped 1981 on the blade.
I made the sheath before I knew how to stitch leather.
I did a lot of polishing on the blade and cleaned up the finish.

Thanks again, Bob!!
Almost every time I use one of my Opinels, I wonder why I'm interested in any other knives.Good evening porchsters,
Not used one of these for donkey's years.
Chamfered some sawn timber, to save me get the sander out. Chopped the onion and cut a chicken into eighth's (bones and all) for chicken curry stew. Very capable knife, it just goes to show how versatile good geometry and hard steel can be. Cuts better than knives 20 times the price.

John, I don't know much about English churches. What are the "decorated boxes" in the racks of the pews in that church/chapel? Some kind of book for use in worship (maybe Bibles or hymn books)?

What blades does it have? Is that clip blade its original shape, or did you have to fix a broken tip?

Man that knife is a stunner! It ticks all the boxes, has stag, a wharncliffe and clip point blade, a birds eye rivet, and a really cool deer shield.
