Another rainy dreary day here in the City by the Bay! Just got off a video call with my pain management doctor. I’m good to go for another six months until our next check in. No major plans for today. Keeping me company will be the usual lamb and newest addition. Have a great day folks!

We were going to go up to Klamath Falls, Oregon today for some last minute Christmas shopping but when the alarm clock went off at 0700, Cindy asked if we had to go and me not especially liking the two relatives we were shopping for said; "No" so, we're staying home today. Sausage and eggs for breakfast. This Scout Trapper will do for a carry today.

Case Jigged Red Bone Trapper today. Case is amazing at bone work (edit: at dying, sizing, and especially jigging)!! Although nearly a third of my orders come with a very small crack somewhere, usually around a pin, as this one did. They could be better at fastening with pins

Wow I don't believe I've ever received a new Case with a pin crack. Blade wobble and off center blades yes, but pin cracks only on older knives. I don't know if I've just had good luck or you've just had bad luck. Agee that their jigging and dyeing is second to none.

I started the day doing some gardening,if you call trimming the top of a 2 foot long small hedge gardening?

I just needed to do something a bit physical.

Is it me or is the Viper a bit of a pruner?

I made a sandwhich with it later (after cleaning) I have found the top of the blade reversed is a good spreader just dont force it (safety).





Then went to the edge of town for a haircut and a coffee,Bunny in my pocket this time.

You've got some great colorful patina going on both of those! They look great! It looks like you're really putting that Viper to good use already!

Well, small sample size, but 4 of 13 brand new have had a very small crack. Disappointing when you want something new to be "perfect" but not enough of an issue to affect performance (yet). I guess you have to pay more if you want something flawless- its cool.

I've had the same experience as mbkr with Case, no cracks but off centered wobbly blades for sure. I hope you just got a few bad ones. I can live with most Case flaws, but cracked bone is a tough one.

I'd have preferred a satin or acid-etch finish on the blade, but the Copper-Ironwood combo is wonderful. You have some nice figuring on your copy.
