What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Still no rain or snow. I'm tempted to spray down a sidewalk with the garden hose just to make it feel more like winter. Even throw a few ice cubes out too. Anyway, it's a nice New Year's Day so can't really complain. This Puma doesn't get hardly any pocket time so I'll carry it today. Really a nice knife. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

The last 2 years have been interesting going through knives, acquiring new ones and trying them, making decisions on what works best and what I like most. Have made decisions on most of the horde, need to concentrate on some Buck folders and a few fixed-blades this year.

Not sure if I'll be posting daily or weekly in 2024, will see how things shake out. Might be a bit repetitive.

Anywhos.

Bucks going through the wringer - 503, 112, and 055.

I'm pretty sure the 503 will stay. Likely the 055 will get gifted/ traded. I'd like to find a 500 drop-point to compare to the 112, I think I'd prefer a slimmer profile. Will be looking for a 303 in Dymondwood to try, and have a line on a 532. Then I'll be taking a harder look at the fixed-blades.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy New Year. :)
Gordon, I’ll look forward to your conclusions on all things Buck.

I usually find something to like about whatever knife’s in my hand, which saves me money.
Nice duo my friend.
I did not realize there were cookbooks along the lines of the one shown. Is this one for first time cooks or for someone living a more subsistence lifestyle where the land provides?
Ready or not, the trip has started.
Thanks, Rick! The medium Jack is one of those I could live with as my only. In fact, for about twenty years, a Schrade 33 and 293 were all I carried. If I needed a filet knife, or a knife to field dress a buck, I could get by, but I did have knives for that.

The cookbook is aimed at preventing disease. I bought it three or four years ago. I’ve found some good ways to cook and eat junk out of the garden. Just part of trying to get away from factory processed food, and stay healthy. But I don’t go as far as trying to be “plant based”, unless you count the fact that meat is plact based.😁

Good afternoon Porchsters,

Happy New Year to you all !

I have started this year as I hope to continue it, in my shed. :)

Carried one of the Ablett for inspiration on the creation of a bunny knife. :) Scales are real ebony about 30yr old, not that newfangled stuff. Is was very handy for marking out my creation.

Happy New Year, buddy. A little digging into Ecclesiastes is a solid choice for starting your year.🤙

A bunch of us brought crock pots of homemade soup, there was a ping pong tournament, and just general hard partying revelry. And come to think about it, it’s the first time we left the house on New Year’s Eve in decades.
Vik told me that fireworks woke her up at midnight, but I didn’t hear them because I was playing guitar downstairs.

Now enjoy your holiday, eh?
I’m going outside to work, but later on, I’m going to open up a couple of tins of sardines, and oysters for my daughter and I. (My wife won’t touch those things)

And then I’ll grill the nice fat steaks I splurged on.
Thanks for tolerating my user knives, and my rambling about gardening and guitars. And mostly thanks for letting me enjoy seeing the huge variety of traditional knives that we know and love.😉

What better way to begin a new year Jeff.
Save some energy for the rest of the year.😃

I’m always eager to see your carries Gordon. Always 100% class 👌🏼. Happy New Year!

Two in the pockets, one on the belt. I carried the 113 on the weekends much more than I posted last year. It’s such a trusty worker around the house. Thanks Gordon! My wife has taken a liking to it now. I’m keeping close tabs on it these days 😂.

Thanks, Jon. I'm finding small fixed-blades to be quite handy, hopefully yours doesn't get fully appropriated. Hope you and your family have a great year.

Much appreciated Jeff. Finding things to like is the reason I have too many sharps (for me anyways), I have so many now it's becoming a chore to store, clean, select carries... time to cull the herd a bit.

Just this handy 84mm SAK today.

Is a toolbox in the pocket and very town centre friendly.🤔

After seeing this poster today this will be my new years moto.🤭
