What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good afternoon Porchsters,

Happy New Year to you all !

I have started this year as I hope to continue it, in my shed. :)

Carried one of the Ablett for inspiration on the creation of a bunny knife. :) Scales are real ebony about 30yr old, not that newfangled stuff. Is was very handy for marking out my creation.

Beautiful mate.

I've tried hard to find both an Ablett knife and a decent bunny knife. Neither can be found. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Thank you for your kind words, its appreciated.
However, dont get your hopes up, :)
I am a learner messing about in my shed, I am hoping that someday I will be able to translate my ideas and engineering skills into something presentable. 🤣

Thanks, Rick! The medium Jack is one of those I could live with as my only. In fact, for about twenty years, a Schrade 33 and 293 were all I carried. If I needed a filet knife, or a knife to field dress a buck, I could get by, but I did have knives for that.

The cookbook is aimed at preventing disease. I bought it three or four years ago. I’ve found some good ways to cook and eat junk out of the garden. Just part of trying to get away from factory processed food, and stay healthy. But I don’t go as far as trying to be “plant based”, unless you count the fact that meat is plact based.😁
Jeff, I have a few of those "if it was all I had" knives.
Understand getting away from processing. I don't care how much flavoring a company adds to ground up plant matter, it is nor nor will ever be a substitute for bacon or sausage.
A humble modded TL-29 in yellow Rit dyed polished dog chew bone,View attachment 2441581 and two Wengers, a Handyman, and Ranger 55.View attachment 2441582View attachment 2441583We went back to church last evening for a little NYE get together. A bunch of us brought crock pots of homemade soup, there was a ping pong tournament, and just general hard partying revelry. And come to think about it, it’s the first time we left the house on New Year’s Eve in decades.
Vik told me that fireworks woke her up at midnight, but I didn’t hear them because I was playing guitar downstairs.

Now enjoy your holiday, eh?
I’m going outside to work, but later on, I’m going to open up a couple of tins of sardines, and oysters for my daughter and I. (My wife won’t touch those things)

And then I’ll grill the nice fat steaks I splurged on.
Thanks for tolerating my user knives, and my rambling about gardening and guitars. And mostly thanks for letting me enjoy seeing the huge variety of traditional knives that we know and love.😉
Awesome TL-29. Mod looks great.
That sounds like a great evening. Something about good food and fellowship that just goes together.
Sounds like some good appetizers and main course.
User knives are the best king. Granted a person needs a dress knife and some on here certainly fill that role. I would be a lot more comfortable using a user knife than some of these custom blades to get elbow deep gutting a deer.
Before I get voted off the porch, there is nothing wrong with a purty, fancy custom. Just not my cup of coffee
