What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

War Eagle Blades (named for a small river nearby) is the budget Chinese brand offered by A.G. Russell (showroom is less than 5 miles from my work). I got this during a customer loyalty day for $34, heck of a deal. They use a budget steel (7CR17MOV) but I've found them to be well-made, on par with a really good Rough Ryder or RoseCraft. They currently are not offering the Barlow but it may come back in the future. Thanks for the kind words on the Zwilling.

I must say, your Zwilling is superb! 👌🏻 I've been watching these for a while waiting on "mine". Yours is the most gorgeous I've seen thus far. 👍🏻 Would you mind sharing some info on the War Eagle? That's a stunner!

So far behind in comments on this thread!! o_O:eek: I had a bunch of quotes from "the night before Christmas" and even earlier, but deleted almost all of them. Maybe I'll try catching up with the past 2 weeks by quoting a favorite post from each page.

For some reason, I never imagined you sporting a mohawk. Good look, my friend! :cool:
Thanks, Chris. 🤓
By the time someone gets to my age, they can usually be called "The Man of a Thousand Looks". Here's me as a "grad school gangster" back in the '70s; my daughter calls it my "serial killer look".

Nice stag on that one, Gary.
Thanks, Bart. :)

These were gifts from the porch, so I carry them proudly.View attachment 2434244
Merry Christmas to all and your families.
Striking knives, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
An open jigged bone Waynorth lambsfoot is probably the best-looking knife I can recall, and the sawcut osage orange is a real attention-grabber, too!

For Christmas dinner, a laguiole and for stuff a boker.View attachment 2434246View attachment 2434247
Both Christmas winners, Alan! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Merry Christmas Porch Friends 🎄

Nice Christmas colors on the covers of that pair, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Today I am carrying a very special knife. I have long desired a chestnut bone CV sway back jack. Chief Chief , being aware of this, sent me the finest of examples turned out by Case. My pictures cannot do it justice and do not compare to Chief’s always stellar pictures. Trust me, this truely is a magnificent knife.

Thank you Chief Chief !!

Merry Christmas to the Porch!!

Congrats on the magnificent swayback jack, and kudos to Chief Chief for his generosity! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
When I first joined BF in 2014, those Case SBJs were considered VERY desirable knives, and I still think they're sublime.

Christmas gifts from a couple of very kind family members.
Nice trio of gift knives! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
That Hen & Rooster canoe is especially noteworthy IMHO. Acrylic covers? Full size (3 5/8" closed)?

Got some SPAM Socks for Christmas. Paired em up with a Bunny knife. Turns out, meat isn't the only thing that comes in a SPAM tin. Lousy picture but gets it across.

Cool Spam socks, ED! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
I got socks from my daughter, but they're just "basic black". I told her I usually get Hanes black cotton crew socks, like 6 pairs for $8, that I can wear in the gym or in church, but she got me some kind of fancy Hanes "performance socks". They look dressy, but I've worn them to play basketball a couple of times, and it seems like they function as all-purpose socks, so I and my feet are happy. 🤓

Sawcut Barlow as my companion today.

Ravishing Russell Barlow, Greg! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

You're succumbing to the fact that single blade clip points are awesome.
...
I suppose that's possible, although I think I'd like the slimline trapper even more if it had a spey or drop point blade. :rolleyes:

Stabilized hemp wood, and Bocote for Wednesday.

Double good wood, Jon! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Today, I'm carrying this Case 4-Dot (1976) 6235 1/2 Swell End, Capped Jack declared by me to be a Case Bunny Knife.

Don't believe it could be called a Bunny Knife? Check out the following. A BF 2022 Bunny Knife in the middle, an A.Wright's Bunny Knife at the top and the Case Swell End/Capped Jack declared by me to be a Bunny Knife at the bottom.

Ebony beer scout will do today 😎View attachment 2436067
Sheepsfoot blade and ebony handle will do almost every day!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Rolling with these two. Have a great day everyone! 😎👍View attachment 2436091
Pair of beauties, Todd; striking stag! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Finally found a Boker that makes me happy. Is that maroon micarta? 😍

Love that drop point blade, Chris! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

They kicked me out on Christmas eve,someone had written Merry Christmas on all our head boards overnight as we (tried) to sleep,a nice gesture.

See that TV in the photos below I could not tune it into the BBC it just had all these random numbers and squiggles instead. 😅
I totally fell for your malfunctioning TV story, John! o_O:rolleyes::thumbsup:
Glad you were released before Christmas, and I hope you can keep your freedom for a while! 🤓

This one has been in the pocket since I got it View attachment 2436196
That clip/lamb burly-wood Barlow is sensational!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:😲

Schrade Walden, NY today. Nice little unexpected addition last night. View attachment 2436768
Splendid old electrician knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

As someone with Dutch ancestors, I always enjoy seeing your Dutch Army knife, José! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I'm sticking with some good old simple wood today:

Good, simple, MATCHING wood!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Today I’m carrying this 3 1/4” schrade cut co jack.

First-rate jack, and icy-cool display case! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

It's a Sowbelly Stockman for the trip to town today. Still no snow. Lunch at the Wagon Wheel Cafe and then a stop at the Holiday Market before returning home. Don't really need gas (down to 3/4 of a tank in the truck) but I think I'll top it up just in case it snows tonight.

Superb sowbellies! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

🤣 I'll have to hold with your daughter on this one!

At first, I thought this to be a composite image of all the perpetrators from every episode of Forensic Files I've ever seen! 🤣

Pair this look with a vintage Econo-line van that's got "Free Candy" written on the side and you're all set for next Halloween! 🤣

Turns out I only shoveled the sidewalk to the back gate and pump house yesterday and didn't go up for the mail, so I'll have to do a bit of shoveling and plow just the back driveway today. Getting too dang old to get it all at one go. When it comes to Stockman knives, I usually carry a Sowbelly but today I'm gonna carry this SS 3347 Stockman. Classic yellow makes it easy to spot in the snow. Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

Great choice!!

😍 Can't wait to see a bit of wear on that one!
Finally got the blade tightened up, action is still very good, now it’s time to work on the patina. 😉👍
Just a fixed blade for me today. Rainy day project for the day - my son and I replaced some laces on our gloves. I used the Krein to cut the excess.

Nice work Bart. 😎👍

Fine job Bart. We would usually follow up with neatsfoot oil.
Thanks and that’s a good call. Mine (the one on the left) is in desperate need of oil.

Thanks Todd. It was the first time we’ve done that and I’m pleased with the results.

My canoes for the first full week of 2024 are an amber jigged bone Rough Rider, the first canoe I ever handled, and a Buck jigged bone model (thanks, Clay):

Two beautiful canoes from your extensive collection, Gary. Good year 2024 for you and family.:)👍

Down by Wallingford bridge this afternoon, everyone was out gawping at the flood myself included.

Stainless steel in my pocket,we dont need no rust. 🤭

Lots of familys about so hard to take a pic without worrying someone.:)

It was noticeably colder over the water.:eek:

Still lots of wallys wearing shorts and tee shirts to show how tough they are (I had 2 down jackets on to protect my heart problems).o_O

Can you see the roof of the black car in the water? I bet the council still give him a parking fine.

He is going to need a lot of WD40 to get his car started once the water recedes,.

Imagine his call to the AA...whats the cause of the breakdown sir?……….just a bit of water on the engine....🤣🤣🤣

In case its not obvious theres a river or 2 somewhere amongst this lot.

You have no idea how much I love SRV,this is the blues with feeling.
No im not in Texas,it’s the flood we have in common.
