What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I
Down by Wallingford bridge this afternoon, everyone was out gawping at the flood myself included.

Stainless steel in my pocket,we dont need no rust. 🤭

Lots of familys about so hard to take a pic without worrying someone.:)

It was noticeably colder over the water.

Still lots of wallys wearing shorts and tee shirts to show how tough they are (I had 2 down jackets on to protect my heart problems).o_O

Can you see the roof of the black car in the water? I bet the council still give him a parking fine.

He is going to need a lot of WD40 to get his car started once the water recedes,.

Imagine his call to the AA...whats the cause of the breakdown sir?……….just a bit of water on the engine....🤣🤣🤣

In case its not obvious theres a river or 2 somewhere amongst this lot.

You have no idea how much I love SRV,this is the blues with feeling.
No im not in Texas,it’s the flood we have in common.

I've been in too many floods and sympathize with those affected.🙏

Yep, Stevie Ray knows how to capture the soul of music John.👍🏻

2022 in Tarrgona Spain I was on the ground floor of a hotel.

Flood water came in halfway up the legs of my bed I put everying on top of the other twin bed and on top of the wardrobe.

My motorbike was outside with water up to the axle,it was a real worry.

In 1993, when the flood was coming and I was bouncing off the walls trying to figure out what to do, the first thing I did, the very first thing I say, was move my motorcycles to a friend's house on high ground thumb.gif

Hope you're on high ground and not too many people get displaced 🙏

So far the winter storm has stayed away. We're supposed to get rain turning to snow tomorrow. If we skip the freezing rain transitory period, that'll be fine.
C'mon spring 🏝️
On the plus side the days are getting longer :D

That was my main concern,I love my bike.

You can soak me and cover me in mud,but dont get my motorbike wet or dirty. 😂

Superb Steve

Keep your powder dry John!

Handsome pair Mitch :)

I gave my ex a Vic Climber. She took it everywhere with her - airports, court buildings, schools, college 😖 She never knew which bag or pocket it was in of course! Must have flown with it a dozen times, and got away with it every time! 🫣🤔

Oh man, she must have a lot of good luck. With my luck I would have got caught onto he first accidental carry.

Carrying my K'roo Waboom Lambsfoot, and a small knife I got from Tod Cutler :) Have a great Sunday (or Monday) folks

Man those are beautiful! That Tod the Cutler one is truly a stunner. It looks like it would be equally excellent at breaking down boxes or cutting up a fine steak.

Oh man, I had heard the UK had been getting drenched and flooded, but a picture truly does speak a thousand words.

I hope you and everyone in your area is safe and that recovery from those floods is fast.

Thanks bud,I am lucky my immediate area isnt to bad.

Its going to take months for other areas to clear, farmers have lost a lot of crops and money.
Which is terrible in these times.

Thanks Jon.👍🏻
I will count my blessing; I don't have to shovel it.
Excellent point, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup: 🤓
I consider this one of the best winters of my life - we're a week into January, and I still haven't shoveled at all this season! 😲

Cool photo, Mike!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Sounds like you even planned it!
I have a few photos with which I'm very pleased, but they're all unintentional in the sense that I have no idea what I did to make them turn out so well.

Green lamb and the 60s Case barlow today.

View attachment 2437403
Both of those knives seem to be quite rare here on The Porch!:cool::thumbsup:
The Case Barlow is old enough to be special, and I can only recall a couple of those green jigged bone Wright lambsfoot knives (yours and Pt-Luso Pt-Luso IIRC).

It's an easy open kind of day...

That pattern, especially the 2-blade version, really "speaks" to me, and I really have no idea why!:cool::thumbsup:
I certainly don't remember seeing anything like that when I was a kid.

I’ll be carrying my Alox SAK for the next few days. Hiked into Haleakalā crater yesterday.

Cool photos, Bart! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
But from the very first picture, I found myself thinking, "Bart is vacationing in Mordor at Mt. Doom! o_O"

I've been playin' with my new Tinus Stone gunstock today. Kind of a modified sheepfoot blade, pinchable, although firmly sprung. At 3¾" closed, it's a nice size, and I'm curious to see just what this blade shape is suited for. So far the tip seems a little blunt for opening envelopes, but it should be great for breaking down cardboard.

So, its been an eventful 24 hours so far. I had a negative reaction to one of the vaccines yesterday. I've never had any kind of reaction to any vaccine in the past so I wasn't expecting it. Headache, chills, sweats. At one point the electric blanket was up to "7". I almost never use the electric blanket and when I do, I don't think I've ever had it above "2", so "7" is really up there. Then went the other way and got hot. Soaked through 3 t-shirts. Got up at 10 a.m. and other than being a little ragged out due to a lack of quality sleep I feel fine, so I think that's over and done with

Around 3 a.m., I sent an email and cancelled out of playing pool today. Since I was feeling pretty ok when I got up, I decided to go to town and play. I was about to get in the shower when the utility contractor showed up to bore conduit under the road for my new phone line, so I decided to stay and watch. The small directional boring machine is really quite an interesting piece of equipment. I didn't take any pics of it  It looked something like this:

This crew was only there to bore conduit under the road:

The second crew just left. They were the ones to actually install the new phone line.
Oh yeah, it did this last night:

And I received a new knife :D
View attachment 2438512
While all this was going on I had the lambsfoot in my pocket. It did get used to open the Remington box
View attachment 2438511

Exciting times :D
Exciting, but I think they'd exhaust me!🤓
Glad your reaction to the vaccines didn't last too long. I'd never had reactions to flu or COVID shots until the past 2 years when I got them simultaneously and got symptoms similar to yours (two years ago was more intense than this fall).
Congrats on the new stag Remington; sumptuous stag!:thumbsup::cool:
Is the bracket on which your lambsfoot is pictured installed specifically for knife photos, or did you used to have something else there (mailbox, back yard cupholder, whatever)?

We're only a few days into Winter and I'm already dreaming of Spring.

I'm with you, Major! 🤓:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hope everyone has a good start to their weekend.View attachment 2439156
Couple of splendid knives, Bob, but the mini Etch A Sketch steals the show!🤓

Couple of cool old Imperials, especially the cattle knife!:cool::thumbsup:

SW 294, Camillus TL-29, and Klein today. Have a good one, Porchismos!View attachment 2439249View attachment 2439250View attachment 2439251
Tremendous trio of frosty-cool knives, Jeff!:cool::cool:

Steve, that 2-blade stag lamb is sensational; you sure have some "unicorn" knives!:thumbsup::cool:

I'm very keen on these Gouttière knives (gutter I think refers more to Rainwater gutter than sewers..in French ;)) Well worth getting one, sturdy construction, great carbon that's sharp and patinates evenly, comfortable in the hand due to thicker slabs despite a slim handle. Great rustic chopper:cool: This one came from France as I'm in the EU but now Americans have a good chance, mine is in Olivewood with some good stripes.

That's a winner, Will!:thumbsup::cool: Beautiful olive wood, and the big sheepsfoot is so useful!

Just a fixed blade for me today. Rainy day project for the day - my son and I replaced some laces on our gloves. I used the Krein to cut the excess.

Nice work.
Quick pause on the way out to rehearsal to shoot today’s knives. I expect these rocks to be buried in snow in a day or two.
