What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One of the several Victorinox Huntsmans I've bought over the years... Carry it every day in my left front pocket. Gave away one or two to people who kept asking to use it, "think" I burned one in a campfire at a wedding reception/party when a friend commented on it being a "nice knife" but wouldn't accept it when I offered to give it to him. I lost one on a trail (friend found it and showed it to me with excitement as she found it not knowing it was mine). I gave it to her/she gave me a Sacagawea dollar in return. Maybe best of all is that my first one - bought 30+/- years ago in college, was meant to replace a Spartan. Imagine my excitement when I discovered some time later that what I thought was a liner was actually a previously unnoticed wood saw!

-3F this morning which is 6 degrees warmer than yesterday jkam.gif
The local weather guru said the official high temp yesterday was -1F. According to him this was the first time since 1989 that our high temp remained below zero.

I went out to refill my kerosene heater after running it for 15 hours straight yesterday (keep the kerosene outside). While I was out I started the vehicles and let them run for a while and took some knife pics. This homemade (by someone other than me) Vic Scientist is just the handiest thing. I have a couple of sets of micarta handles I bought for other, as yet unrealized, projects. I may decide to put a pair on this knife as white and lavender isn't my first choice. OTOH, the handles have a decent tactile feel and are light. And they're a little quirky and quirky is good 🤓

Such are the trials and tribulations of a pocket knife enthusiast :D
Everybody have a fine Monday

Oh yeah, I don't generally name my knives. In fact, I don't think I've ever named a knife before, but I call this one FrankenScientist ;)

Bonus pic just because it was -3 and I was out there taking knife pics 😜

This should get a nod from friends of Buck knives.

Very dense fog this morning. Has something to do with the cold ice and snow on the ground and the warm (45º) air above it. Not being a weather guy, I just go with the flow and accept that explanation from our weather guy who never gets his forecasts right. This Buck 501 with Burgundy Burlap Micarta covers will do for today. Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

I am no CelloDan, but I thought this "little" guy was pretty in the snow. It is a Dark-Eyed Junco, my daughter misheard that and called it a chunko by mistake, I think with the winter fluff it fits lol.We have been putting out more birdseed to help the little fellers out in the cold. It is a warm -1° right now with a wind hill down to -35°, so inside day it is.

K55K and SAK Climber for carry today.

Still have this nice old stockman while driving around doing service calls in our little winter wonderland. In oklahoma we usually get bursts of single digit freezing weather with a little snow, followed by 60 degree weather, then more single digits and another burst of snow.

One of the big Case retailers online has been selling knives with those covers at a discount for quite a while now, and I can't figure out why.

I don't know GT 5K Qs 5K Qs except sometimes, a dealer will place a big order with Case and sell the knives at nearly cost as a "Loss Leader" to draw in customers hoping to increase sales across the board of their items.

ummmm .... do ANY of them?
I think they might improve their accuracy if they looked out the window, and/or stepped outside ...

Weatherman ("his" station three blocks from ours on the same street): "We have near blizzard and whiteout conditions now, DON'T hit the roads unless it is absolutely necessary, and dress warm! The current temp is -45 with the wind-chill ..."
In our parking lot: ... Sunny, winds are calm (on all sides of the building ... small branches and remaining leaves are not moving), and 53 degrees.

Another time he claimes ..." Clear and sunny this afternoon (report was at 15:00) winds at 3 to 7 mph ..."
A glance out my window as he said that: Raining Rhinos & Elly Funts ... rain is "falling" near horizontally ... I witnessed a branch from a tree by our parking lot come off an land a "good" 6 foot west of where it broke off ... (that portion of the parking lot was unoccupied at the time👍) 🙄

Maybe the "weather" part means they don't know whether they are right or wrong? 🤷
