It’s been a busy weekend! We’ve been running back and forth across the mountain to the hospital anxiously awaiting the birth of our first grandbaby. Thursday was a false alarm, but Friday night we were back again. Then very late last night we were blessed with a beautiful granddaughter. Both Momma and Baby are doing well; Son-In-Law is a little worse for wear, but nothing that a good night’s sleep won’t fix. Incidentally, he probably won’t get that for awhile.![]()
It is a White and Grey World out today .

“Best fast food chicken chain”?
I’ve never seen those words combined in one sentence before.
Anyway, whoever first thought of sticking the “s” in fastfood was a marketing genius.
I carried my 14 today. We headed to the mountains this evening to ski and hang out with friends. There’s supposed to be a decent storm coming in tomorrow so the skiing should be good on Sunday.

Due to warm up tomorrow, so that's good news![]()

Got a furnace service guy out. It’s only a year old, but it keeps shutting off after less than a minute. I left him on the phone with tech support trying to decipher the cut out codes to run to the Post Office, and Menards to buy a couple back-up furnace filters.
It’s kind of ironic. I used to haul propane in Missouri’s Lake Of The Ozarks area back in the ‘80s. And I serviced gas furnaces, water heaters, and stoves, too. Nine time out of ten, when a customer called about something not working, a little strip of emery cloth I carried in my shirt pocket was all I needed, because the thermocouple had some soot on it, did not get hot enough from the pilot light, so it wouldn’t allow the gas valve to open. The one in ten was because they ran out of gas.
Same with cars back then. Running rough? Scrape the points clean with your pocket knife, and good to go.
Now, when I look at the guts of a modern furnace, or under the hood of my car, I have no clue.
Totin a 111mm Victorinox, which really fits my hand perfectly, and this sweet little Country Cousin in silky smooth delein that Paul @Jakeywax31 kindly gave me.View attachment 2458549View attachment 2458550

I believe you have mistaken Kylo Ren for Darth Vader. Different mask and Darth Vader's lightsaber doesn't have the weird light-crossguard thingies.
And yes, I have watched far too much Star Wars.![]()
I am confused about that last sentence. What does that even mean "far to much Star Wars"?I believe you have mistaken Kylo Ren for Darth Vader. Different mask and Darth Vader's lightsaber doesn't have the weird light-crossguard thingies.
And yes, I have watched far too much Star Wars.![]()
Sorry for my lack of clarity, Jeff. When I wrote "misshaped punch stockman", I was trying to say that the Kingston cattle knife was a misshaped stockman, since it isn't serpentine, and was also noting that it wasn't like a true All-American stockman since it had a punch instead of a sheepsfoot and a spear instead of a clip. I suppose I was trying to show that even though I was posting the knife as "Stockman of the Week", I actually knew that it wasn't REALLY a stockman.Help me out. In what way is the punch misshapen? Looks good from over here.
Todd, your life could be so much more full and complete if you embraced the magic of mathematics!…and it drove me crazy!
I teach social studies Gary…you lost me at “4 knives to choose from”

When I was in college, over 50 years ago, I think I could buy a pack of 5 White Owls for a quarter. I'm guessing you'll have to shell out more cash than that nowadays to get a cigar/knife match!Going with the Owl today. One of these days when I’m at the cigar shop I’m going to grab a White Owl cigar like5K Qs suggested…just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it yet.

Shoot, that's almost better than the Lions winning a playoff game!Broke even more or less, so yes it did![]()
Those pleasant knife surprises make it all worthwhile.Thank you. What surprised me the most was how much I enjoyed using it as an edc.
Thanks for that interesting conjecture, ED.I don't know GT5K Qs except sometimes, a dealer will place a big order with Case and sell the knives at nearly cost as a "Loss Leader" to draw in customers hoping to increase sales across the board of their items.
I’ve never watched it.I believe you have mistaken Kylo Ren for Darth Vader. Different mask and Darth Vader's lightsaber doesn't have the weird light-crossguard thingies.

Man, that seems awfully cold!Sure Gary, they're very nice knives. Warming up here Gary, todays low was only -13, compared to yesterday's -20![]()
Mmm… lots of primo choices, Todd. King Edward Imperials, Dutch Masters Presidents, or El Producto Queens.Going with the Owl today. One of these days when I’m at the cigar shop I’m going to grab a White Owl cigar like5K Qs suggested…just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it yet.

Yes, we did, Barrett! It was an airflow problem which was causing it to overheat and shut down.Hope you get your furnace sorted out, Jeff. Hell of a week to have it go out.
Our first or second winter here in Minnesota, I was sitting in our basement bonus room watching TV on a sub-zero night, after everyone else had gone to bed, when the furnace kicked on then quickly shut off again. It did that a couple times, then silence. Thankfully a bit of frantic 1 AM googling taught me all about flame sensors and I was able to get it working again without too much trouble.

Oh, stop!I’ve never watched it.
