I was wondering that myself. What is the black object behind the knife?
Great question! I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out. What is the black object behind the knife?
Looks like a piece of charcoal to me.Great question! I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out.Hmm.. If you're seeing what I'm seeing... It appears to be one of two things. 1. a one-eyed alien voodoo doll head of some sort, or 2. a squirrel turd.

Two beauties with you today Barrett !!!!! Thanks for the comment on the Snow . That photo was taken when we had about 8 inches . We ended up getting about 4 " more . And then my snow blower that I use on the patio would not run and I finally got it running today . We have a Service for doing the driveway .Nice pic, Harry. You’ve got a lot more snow than we have!
Hope you had a good time!
Good looking pair. I particularly like the one on the left with the SCOUT shield.
Brrrr…Paul, have I told you before that I have Valley City saved on the weather app on my phone, so when it gets really cold here I can look at it and remember it could be worse?
Fantastic pair of GECs!
Hope you get your furnace sorted out, Jeff. Hell of a week to have it go out.
Our first or second winter here in Minnesota, I was sitting in our basement bonus room watching TV on a sub-zero night, after everyone else had gone to bed, when the furnace kicked on then quickly shut off again. It did that a couple times, then silence. Thankfully a bit of frantic 1 AM googling taught me all about flame sensors and I was able to get it working again without too much trouble.
Love those!
Got these two with me today.

I think you're correct! Or, a random piece of mulch. It does look weird though..Looks like a piece of charcoal to me.
could be left over charcoaled maple or ??? from the smoker? What is the black object behind the knife?
Great collection!! Those GEC "kitchen" knives are sweet! When life (and your neighbors) gives you several bags of lemons, right after you bought out all the lemons from one of the stands at the local farmers market, make lemoncello. My wife and I spent a couple of hours peeling about half of our stock of lemons today, swapping knives as they got too dull.
Right after this picture I cleaned and oiled the knives; I hope to find time to sharpen them tomorrow, but we may just grab a different pile of knives to go through the rest of the lemons, and sharpen everything later in the week.

Thanks! Yeah, I am a fan of those - we have one more that's not in this picture, and I wouldn't mind getting a couple more eventually. They see daily use in our kitchen.Great collection!! Those GEC "kitchen" knives are sweet!![]()

That's pretty cool GarySAK of the Week is a Victorinox Pocket Pal. (I currently have 3 of this model, and I call this one Pocket Pal A, since it's the first one I ever had.)

Stockman fo the Week is really a Kingston cattle knife, but it's kind of a misshaped punch stockman with spearpoint main blade, so that's the category it landed in on my rotation schedule.

Hope you have a good week also.
Charlie Lamb looking good
Thanks pal, I think that's the pointiest knife I own, any pointier, and it'd be a punch! That top knife is SO pointy, and your stag HHB looks better than ever, Jack!![]()
Same here Jeff, I worked as a mechanic in the late 70's, but wouldn't have a clue these daysEd, they predicted 13+” of snow ~ we only got 9”. They predicted an overnight low of -13f, it was -16 when we got up at 5:30. I guess they’d say that their Oija board and Magic Eight Ball were spot on. On average.View attachment 2458548
Got a furnace service guy out. It’s only a year old, but it keeps shutting off after less than a minute. I left him on the phone with tech support trying to decipher the cut out codes to run to the Post Office, and Menards to buy a couple back-up furnace filters.
It’s kind of ironic. I used to haul propane in Missouri’s Lake Of The Ozarks area back in the ‘80s. And I serviced gas furnaces, water heaters, and stoves, too. Nine time out of ten, when a customer called about something not working, a little strip of emery cloth I carried in my shirt pocket was all I needed, because the thermocouple had some soot on it, did not get hot enough from the pilot light, so it wouldn’t allow the gas valve to open. The one in ten was because they ran out of gas.
Same with cars back then. Running rough? Scrape the points clean with your pocket knife, and good to go.
Now, when I look at the guts of a modern furnace, or under the hood of my car, I have no clue.
Totin a 111mm Victorinox, which really fits my hand perfectly, and this sweet little Country Cousin in silky smooth delein that Paul @Jakeywax31 kindly gave me.View attachment 2458549View attachment 2458550
A fine pair
LOL!Your spot on JackBack when I worked out in this weather, it was a T-shirt, sweatshirt, Hoodie, freezer jacket and a heavy Carhartt Jacket, then below the belt, boxers, long underwear, two pairs of shocks with a pair of insulated snow bibs to top off my entire ND cold weather ensemble

I always enjoy seeing that one
Same when I got back from my recent hols, boiler cut out at 1am, and there I was watching YT videos!

+1I’ve never watched it.
I'm sure it was hard work Tyson, but it also sounds like fun! When life (and your neighbors) gives you several bags of lemons, right after you bought out all the lemons from one of the stands at the local farmers market, make lemoncello. My wife and I spent a couple of hours peeling about half of our stock of lemons today, swapping knives as they got too dull.

I see a one eyed animal head. No charcoal at all.Great question! I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out.Hmm.. If you're seeing what I'm seeing... It appears to be one of two things. 1. a one-eyed alien voodoo doll head of some sort, or 2. a squirrel turd.
