What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I had the dander part right, but the croft part, I was way off. That definition is way more interesting. BTW, both of my great grandparents on my moms side were Scottish.....I should have known these words!
Anglicisms sorry; dander - walk/strut/stroll and croft - small piece of farmland (in Scotland it's traditionally a piece of virtually infertile land without a single square yard that is flat. Anything less than vertical rock is undoubtedly covered in heather, ticks and midges {tiny evil swarms of highland mosquitoes} worked by a crofter).

That knife is a beauty. What is it? Is it a GEC?

That looks like the new GEC Tidioute #68 Pony Jack in Antique Yellow Jigged Bone with a spearpoint main blade. There were only 25 of the spearpoints made in antique yellow, and there are still a few left at knivesshipfree.com (a BF registered dealer).

Thanks burnside, you are correct it's a spear point #68 Pony Jack. I didn't know the production numbers, thanks for the info. wws I hope that answers your question.

Guys,
Thanks for that info. I think I need to get one of those before they are gone.

I'm carrying a navaja of sorts too....a little more utilitarian though :-/

Next puukko project on the go :)

Gev - Why thank you sir.

I'm hoping for a contrast knife to the Bog Oak & Elforyn puukko I previously made.

This one is Rowan & Bog Oak, a nice selection of native woods from our isles.

So far I have been really impressed by Rowan. It's reasonably soft to work but dense, with an easy to achieve smooth finish. I hope to track down some more.

Had to stop here as I was feeling a bit slap dash and didn't want to have any (further) hiccups.

CS - That's a beaut. Is it a #53?

Message, if you will sir, the blade you are using. I want to try my hand at this.

Doug, that one is just a jewel!
