What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Case XX 6143 (1940-64) Grandaddy Barlow for Friday. I snatched this off our Exchange the other day ....... my first ever Grandaddy Barlow.
It's a pocket full ...... very stout and snappy. I'm going to leave it looking like a grandpa ought to look. ☺️ I'm going to be leaning, so no other knife today.

Congrats on your first Grandaddy Barlow, Rob! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I've had one for quite awhile, but it's got a paint-stained handle, a rusty and wobbly blade, was made in Japan, and a colleague got it for me out of a dead guy's garage, so you probably wouldn't have been very interested even if I offered it to you! o_O

About 7 or 8 miles to the east, is the historic old square of Woodstock, the movie location where Bill Murray experienced recurring Deja Vu while hoping to see if a fat rodent would awaken from hibernation and see his shadow.
At my place, we trust in the wisdom of Rubber Ducky emerging from under his stump. No shadow!View attachment 2480373View attachment 2480372
My wife's birthday is Groundhog Day, but she claims to have no insights into how much winter remains. ;)
Jeff, it's always good to see Rubber Ducky, but it looks like he has a splitting headache! :(:thumbsdown:

We've got some banking to do in town today and then it'll be clam chowder at the Wagon Wheel Cafe followed by grocery shopping at the Holiday Market. Still no rain so I guess you could call it a dry run. I'll be totin my new Case single-blade Sowbelly dressed in it's G-10 Carhartt Jacket.

Nice Carhartt sowbelly, ED! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I sure hope you remembered to do an appropriate heat check on the clam chowder!

Happy Friday everyone !

Couple of showstoppers, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

This sowbelly still hasn't left my pocket. Been a couple weeks now. Love it.

I like the stainless and micarta. No worries.
I had that sort of experience with the first sowbelly I ever bought, a Rough Rider. I got a set of RRs in 12 different patterns and planned to carry each one for a week to see what it could do, but when I got around to the sowbelly's turn, I carried it for a MONTH before I could move on to the next pattern! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

CANADA WW2

This is an extra post for Canadians.

I got lost on the way home tonight looking for a short cut and came across this memorial in the middle of a housing estate.

The inscription stands to the bravery of the 2 Airmen and the naming of the roads shows the gratitude and respect shown them by the local towns people.

RIP lads.

The knife is what I call my Canadian Case genrously given to me by Dan.

Sweet old Case, and moving story about the Canadian aviators! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

P.S.
Just wanted to say how important being in this community has become to me. You all are a top notch bunch of folks to converse with and share interests. Thanks again for having me!
Several people here have said something like, "Came for the knives, stayed for the people!"
Nice post, and I know what you're talking about! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

That moose is very cool! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Do they call it a humpback moose?

That's a handsome knife! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
What's the secondary blade? Who made it, how long ago?

A leather collaborative between Jeremy@sbh06 and Paul@Jakeywax31. Thank you both for your thoughtful generosity. 👏👍🏻

Nice knives, Bob, and congrats on the lovely leather! Accolades to Jeremy and Paul, a couple of generous gents cut from the same cloth as you! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks guys! Boker makes a nice Barlow…maybe that’s why they call almost all of their knives “Barlows.” 🤣
That's so mysterious, Todd; they should know better! :rolleyes:😁

Felt like totin' stag for Northfield stag Saturday. ☺️ 🦌🦌
...
I felt like that, too, Rob, but found that I was plumb out of Northfield stag! :eek:
You sure had a terrific trio, though!!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Gifted 77 Improved Muskrat, and 766, which according to a post I dug up, Schrade called a Wharncliffe Pattern ~ even though it has no Wharncliffe blade.
It’s been re-hafted in stag by Glenbad, so not only can I celebrate Schradurday, but I can join the cool kids in Stagurday.
Thanks, Bruce and Bob!

Another tremendous trio, Jeff! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

"best" of all realms?
Only 4.125 inch closed, excluding the bail.
Reasonable and smooth "5" pull on all blades, there is a half stop on all 4 blades, as well.
Weight is less than a 3 5/8 inch Scout/Camp.
I'll guess the G10 covers liners, and bolsters are much lighter than Delrin/bone and German Silver bolsters and brass liners.
New AND old black. to make it "easy" to spot if set down or dropped. (excluding in an Oak and/or Elm forest in the fall)
Can opener works quite well. (I've not had any opportunity to test the caplifter. ☹️🥺)

Highly recommend if you need a user 4 blade Scout/Camp knife, that won't damage the back account ... or upset the better 99.9%. 😇👍
Someday soon you're gonna convince me to buy one of those scouts on steroids! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

This one came in the mail today, just in time for stag Saturday.

A couple recent of carrying my Navy Knife.
The first at the Ross Ice Shelf inside the Bay of Whales. Here is the southern most navigable point on earth. The second on watch.
Impressive Navy Knife photos, Jon! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Did you have "shore leave" on that ice shelf?? Maybe an impromptu ice ball game? 🤓

Very handsome knife!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I do love some garlic! 🤣 What varieties are you planing on growing? Awesome carver btw 👍

I ordered Italian purple which is a large medium season - hot and strong variety.
The smaller is New Zealand red which is a long season, moderate size, heat and flavour.

My friend has given me another variety which of the half dozen he grew last year was his favourite, but I can’t recall the variety off the top of my head.

Thank you. The sample size is small for me but this is some of the best I’ve seen.

Wonderfull carry there Greg! What is the S&M pattern called? Love that fat spear.
Sorry for the slow reply, my friend. No model number stamped on the knife so I went on a search through my bin of knife boxes for clues. Didn't realize I had so many Schatt & Morgan knives until I started sorting the boxes. Anyway this is what I found #1215 Tear Drop, white bone, File & Wire Series. I dyed the bone to the color it is now but included a pic View attachment 2485952below of what it originally looked like when I got it around 2015-16. Thanks for you're interest. 👍:)View attachment 2485950View attachment 2485954

Great pic! Have you ever tried sprinkling some dry seasoning over your popcorn? Some good BBQ or Cajun seasoning can work some wonders 😉

Thanks! Although I have to confess my popcorn taste is pretty plain…just salt, sometimes butter.

These two today. I was so excited about a new fixed blade I ordered off the exchange yesterday I forgot to post :).
