I believe part of the problem was due to his rushing to complete project. I told him not to hurry, but believe he wanted to finish before he went on vacation. That's a shame![]()

That's really funny Tyson! The Turkish delight video made me think of this xkcd about it. (For many Americans, I think our only reference to Turkish delight, for a long time, was The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.)
Sounds like a handy thing to have Gary, I found this Nicholas Nichols custom kitchen knife, gifted to me byThe Victorinox sheath is nylon with a removable plastic "holster" that keeps the blade from cutting the nylon fibers. The sheath fits each of my "paring knives" (2 Victorinox and an Otter). It only has a spring steel belt clip, but I usually just stick the sheath in my bag if I want to carry one of the paring knives.

Thanks for bringing Tyson's post to my attention Gary, I'm afraid I missed itTyson is right about Turkish Delight in my case - I only learned of its existence in the C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia.
Thanks for your compliment on my brass Le Thiers, Jack.I liked the looks of the Le Thiers pattern, but it seemed that only very small ones would fit my knife budget. But the brass one is full-sized, relatively inexpensive, and the brass itself is appealing to me as a handle.

Such a shame, hopefully you can straighten the edge out BobI believe part of the problem was due to his rushing to complete project. I told him not to hurry, but believe he wanted to finish before he went on vacation.

Quite the lineup John.Same as Jack the weather is miserable here so staying in,missed a meeting at the council.
Plus I was in so much pain last night I got no sleep so best stay in and turn the heating high.
At the moment watching "Alone" series and some of the kit reveals.
Surprised how many take a Leatherman, but I expect its because as one of the 10 items you could get 2 blades, awl etc.
Though I wonder if you took a pocket knife if they would allow one of those massive 6 blade stockmans (I think thats what they are).
At the same time oiling all the wooden handle knives that areout in the room with me.
One side and one batch at a time, then I remembered these finger protectors I had bought.
Because how ever sure you are you wont cut yourself you know you will.

Oh, so that's what Turkish Delight is! I was confused when reading The Narnia books, because there used to be a candy bar here called "Turkish Taffy" that was so tooth-extractingly dense, I couldn't imagine that was what they were talking about. Thanks for bringing Tyson's post to my attention Gary, I'm afraid I missed itI had never thought of that
The Fry's stuff is like chocolate-covered jello, but you can get better stuff here, certainly as good as I've had in the Middle East. It goes well with strong coffee, but can't say it is a particular favourite of mine. However, Brian
Fixall generously sent me something, which is similar, but better I think (very nice Schrade Barlow too
)

Thanks for the info, Rachel. Having an ancient ivory knife is pretty impressive!![]()
I have mineral oil as well,l but I saw this oil mentioned on here, its easy to apply you just dab it on.Quite the lineup John. They are calling your name for pocket time.
I use mineral oil, but I see the lemon oil does a fine job...plus the pleasant smell.
Thanks. I feel like it as far as the blade situation goes!!You are traveling in style today Eric.![]()

I like that HSB Jack, Bob.
I’ll have to think about carrying Ganddaddies on my belt. I don’t like the way it flops down horizontally in my front pocket. To alleviate that, I’ve been using a slip.John Primble Belknap saw-cut bone Barlows ... models 5921 and 5922 ( contracted with Boker *) for Thursday, plus my newly acquired Case Grandaddy Barlow, which I have been toting every day for the last week .... in my leather horizontal belt sheath.
