More rain, more mud....had to break the Canoe back out. Y'all have a great Sunday👍View attachment 2482577
Capable and cool canoe! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Your Canal Street Canittler is the epitome of class! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I think there's a greater lesson to be learned here. After reviewing a couple of your math lessons, I now have full confidence in my ability to solve most any math problem with a high degree of accuracy. No calculator, computer, phone, nor abacus required. It's very simple in theory and works something like this... "Hey, GT! If you can solve this, I'll give you this snazzy new Canoe." Ha! Problem solved. 😁 :cool:
Chris, I was gonna give you a piece of my mind for your being so hard-headed about improving your mathematical understanding, and then I realized that in almost every area of life, I do just what you propose: pay an "expert" to do a job for me. :rolleyes:o_O🤓

Thanks, Gary.

The top one is indeed horn. The bottom one is either ivory, or a pretty convincing imitation.
Thanks for the info, Rachel. Having an ancient ivory knife is pretty impressive! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Something about these two just seem to go well together. Maybe the bocote wood, maybe the universally beloved blade etches 🤣 - what do y'all think?

That's a REALLY nice photo! 😲:cool::thumbsup:
(I don't know art, but I know what I like. ;))

Thanks for the Marshall Tucker Band interlude! Although countless songs consist of nothing more than D, C and G, this is a great one.
Toy Caldwell was one of the greats, and like George Benson, he picked only with his right thumb.
Although he passed way too soon, I think he got a taste of Heaven playing through four cranked Fender Twin Reverbs!
I've watched that Marshall Tucker live video countless times in the past, When my daughters ask what music was like when I was a teen in the 70's I show them that video and The Bands 'Last Waltz'. Then I tell them we really did dress and look like that as well. 😁
I listened to a lot of music from about 1965 to 1980, but I rarely went to concerts. In the past couple of years, I've spent a lot of time on YouTube watching live performances of some of my favorite music from "the old days", and seeing things (like that thumb picking) I'd never know just from listening to LPs/cassettes/CDs. I'm also surprised that I enjoy watching some of the YouTube "reactors" (usually relatively young) discovering some of the musical gems from my youth.
I'm developing quite a list of video links to send to my daughter for her to watch, because she used to enjoy some of "my" music.

Is a 2-bladed K'roo unusual, Paul? I don't recall seeing many, but maybe I don't pay very close attention. Yours is certainly a winner! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Thanks GT! I really like the ram’s horn example you posted.
Thanks, Tom. That Marbles canoe was just purely luck of the draw; I was completely surprised and pleased to discover that big "crater" in the pile side horn when the knife arrived! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Yessir, we have the same born on date. I’ll be 49 on Wednesday.
Hey, Happy Birthday to you! Enjoy your first half-century while you still can! :thumbsup::thumbsup:🤓
One of my "little" sisters was born on February 7.

You're welcome, Gary. I've purchased 4 Maserin knives, 2 sodbusters as gifts to my brothers and 2 hunters for myself. All well built IMO. 👍

I've been absent for a few days. Carried two old bone handled knives the past three days, Remington swell end and a Robeson sleeveboard.

Four fantastic knives, Greg; I especially like that Robeson sleeveboard with a blade at each end! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Had a good day with the lady, and with a wonderful Winchester Black Box knife in my pocket.

That fancy knife lives up to the Esquire name, Jim! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Is there such a thing as Mundane Monday?View attachment 2483945...
I suppose some Mondays can be quite mundane, Jeff, but very few knives that I've had the chance to actually use seem mundane to me!

That's a superb stockman! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Epic pair, Steve, and I like how you have them posed! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
If you were a soldier, I'd call you a fun GI. 😁

Thanks kindly Gary. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Thanks for the well-wishes, Bob. :) Everything seems to be going well since the weather is so non-wintry right now.

I am enjoying my sparkling red kirinite.
I'm enjoying the way it explodes in that patch of sunlight! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Not seen those sheaths before Gary, interesting :cool: :thumbsup:

Thank you! :D One of the chocolate companies here used to produce a sickly sweet, chocolate-covered version of Turkish delight, which they sold as "Full of Eastern Promise!" 🤣 (A broken promise in my opinion! 🙄 )

Thank you, I like your French knife :) :thumbsup:
The Turkish delight video made me think of this xkcd about it. (For many Americans, I think our only reference to Turkish delight, for a long time, was The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.)
The Victorinox sheath is nylon with a removable plastic "holster" that keeps the blade from cutting the nylon fibers. The sheath fits each of my "paring knives" (2 Victorinox and an Otter). It only has a spring steel belt clip, but I usually just stick the sheath in my bag if I want to carry one of the paring knives.
Tyson is right about Turkish Delight in my case - I only learned of its existence in the C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia.
Thanks for your compliment on my brass Le Thiers, Jack. :) I liked the looks of the Le Thiers pattern, but it seemed that only very small ones would fit my knife budget. But the brass one is full-sized, relatively inexpensive, and the brass itself is appealing to me as a handle.

Been busy moving our daughter this weekend, and I’m feeling it! Furniture must be heavier these days…or maybe I’m just getting old! 🤣... View attachment 2484188
Hate to break the news to you, Todd, but it's not just furniture! o_O Everything is getting heavier, and I fear it's because gravity is getting stronger!
Have you noticed you can't jump as high as you used to??

Here's a related pic of my mom's side of the family from way back in the late 1800's - early 1900's. I believe that's my great-great grandmother by the porch.

Very handsome pair of knives ....... looks like you are turning over every stone to find those spey blades. :thumbsup: 😍
Thank you, Mr. P. It’s hard out here for a spey lover 🤣. I’ve done pretty well over the last year. Acquired some good ones and missed a few as well.
Is a 2-bladed K'roo unusual, Paul? I don't recall seeing many, but maybe I don't pay very close attention. Yours is certainly a winner! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Thank you, Gary. He has made a number of them. Think I even saw a 3 blade cattle knife recently.

I love traditional knives, but I also love modern metallurgy and the development of new and improved steels. So I'm really delighted by my newest arrival: a Buck 112 with a Magnacut blade. Combined with the rosewood scales and nickel bolsters, it's good looking in addition to being a high performance tool.

Those two look good together Steve, great pic :) :thumbsup:
He is rather new Bart. He goes by Ashwin Earl.( Amanna is his last name).The other side is worse. Other than that, a good lamb.
That's a shame :( :thumbsup:
Thank you Jack! Perhaps not as gentlemanly as your jigged lamb today (superb!), but then again I suspect my manners are *not* quite up to snuff so it suits me. You're feeling better, I hope?
Thank you my friend, Charlie and GEC did a great job of those :) LOL! :D I am thanks, not entirely, but having toothache doesn't help :rolleyes: Hope you're doing well yourself :) :thumbsup:
Great pic :cool: :thumbsup:
