What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I’m eagerly anticipating the temperature getting into the upper fifties today. But after appointments at the med. center for my daughter and I, we may get home in time for rain. That will give me the impetus to get back to work on this chunk of western cedar that is starting to look like a Telecaster.View attachment 2487658View attachment 2487659Joining my old Cattle Knife is this fantastic Schrade 96OT Big Trapper that was a very thoughtful gift from Rick, RLB0414 RLB0414 .
Thanks my friend!

There are two tools in the handle, SAK style, a tweezers and a scribe. Not personal care items as in an SAK, but geared toward shop work.
Something about old bone and a federal shield, to scream classic Jeff.👍🏻

Looks like you have a labor of love started.

Same as Jack the weather is miserable here so staying in,missed a meeting at the council.

Plus I was in so much pain last night I got no sleep so best stay in and turn the heating high. 🤣

At the moment watching "Alone" series and some of the kit reveals.

Surprised how many take a Leatherman, but I expect its because as one of the 10 items you could get 2 blades, awl etc.

Though I wonder if you took a pocket knife if they would allow one of those massive 6 blade stockmans (I think thats what they are).

At the same time oiling all the wooden handle knives that areout in the room with me.

One side and one batch at a time, then I remembered these finger protectors I had bought.

Because how ever sure you are you wont cut yourself you know you will. 😅

Sorry to hear about your bad night John, but it sounds like you're having quite an industrious day. Nice find on that lemon oil, I keep meaning to give it a try, reckon a bottle that size will see me out! :D Those finger protectors are pretty nifty too. I've spent half the day looking for small items, which aren't where I thought I put them last! 😖 ;)
Handsome pair Bob :)
'18 is looking good !
Thanks Steve :)
Oh, so that's what Turkish Delight is! I was confused when reading The Narnia books, because there used to be a candy bar here called "Turkish Taffy" that was so tooth-extractingly dense, I couldn't imagine that was what they were talking about.
It's very old, with subtle flavours of rose oil and pistachio. I guess it also sounds very exotic! :D
Thanks, Gary. I'm adding another ancient ivory "oddball knife" to my pockets today.

John Primble Belknap saw-cut bone Barlows ... models 5921 and 5922 ( contracted with Boker *) for Thursday, plus my newly acquired Case Grandaddy Barlow, which I have been toting every day for the last week .... in my leather horizontal belt sheath. The clip bladed Barlow was very kindly gifted to me by my friend Paul Hilborn, about ten years ago. ☺️

Absolutely lovely trio of Barlows, Mr. P! 😍

Cloudy but no snow or rain so we're good to go for a trip to town. It's ravioli day at the Brass Rail Restaurant so that's a for sure stop. This Bull Nose will fill the bill for our adventure.

How about letting that ravioli cool down a bit this time??!
And/Or order something eatable ... Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburger with Blue Cheese or (holey) Swiss Cheese, & a large tater wedges on the side ...
or a 50's / 60's style Breaded Pork Tenderloin (3/8 inch thick, overhangs the large burger bun between 1.5 to 1.75 inch minimum) with cheddar cheese, large basket of onion rings or fries ...

A BLTC (bacon (1.0 to 2.0 pounds) Lettuce (one leaf) Tomatoe (1 to 1.5 inch thick) Sharp or Extra Sharp Ceddar cheese (0.25 pound)
heaping basket of fries or onion rings on the side.
Just a touch or dash of mayo (if used) to cut back/limit the cholesterol.
(mayo is at least 510% cholesterol, you know. Much worse than eggs ....) 😁👍
